Setting up the system proved challenging but not impossible. The remote takes some getting used to, but I like it.

The sound is clean and powerful.

I'm really glad I purchased this system.

Comments about Denon AVR3808CI - 7.1 Receiver 130 watts x 7 With 3 year repair tech warranty:

The documentation was hard to follow. The biggest difficulty I am having is with the remote control. Somehow it got into a locked state, and there is nothing in the Owner's Manual explaining how to unlock the remote. Because of this, the entire set-up had to be done through the front panel and all control of the AVR has to be done from the unit itself. Very frustrating. Even after searching Denon's support site, there is still no resolution.

I replaced a Denon AVR-5600 with this unit so I could use HDMI switching. However, the 3808CI does not pass-thru the monitor signal to the TV, so I have turn on the unit EVERY time I simply want to watch TV.

Comments about Denon AVR3808CI - 7.1 Receiver 130 watts x 7 With 3 year repair tech warranty:

I bought this to replace my Denon 3308 as I wanted to upgrade to a blu-ray setup. On the plus side Denon continues to make a quality mid-level product. The extra 20 watts per channel (130 vs 110 of my old receiver) was immediately noticable. Quality of sound is as good as ever. Remote is a slight improvement over the older version.
A couple annoying things though - first, no wireless internet capability. Come on - who has their wireless router in their home theater room? Also an annoyance that if you want to extend 5.1 to surround back speakers you have to do that setup for both DTS and Dolby - instead of just one time. And, while the remote contains a code for Oppo - maker of my DVD player - it doesn't work right and the remote will not learn the keys for it. It learned every other component but not this one. Especially strange given my old Denon remote had no problems learning it. Still, these are minor issues. Overall a fantastic receiver in this category.

Easy to use manual and (mostly) intuitive change menu - sound is order of magnitude richer than my previous Yamaha (but not comparable models).
