Comments about Denon AVR4308CI - 7.1 Channel Receiver - With 3 year repair tech warranty:

This unit is remarkable. I have it connected to a Roku; Denon 3930 dvd; Denon 2500 Blu-Ray; 67" Samsung DLP TV and a Time Warner Digital receiver box. It is driving seven Polk Audio speakers (2) LC80i (2) LC65i (2) LC265i and an LSiC for the front center. In addition I run two Polk Audio DSW400 Subs. All of this is pushed without breathing hard. These pieces connect comfortably into the back of the 4308 with room for more to add on..... It is amazing. I have connected the subs with a Y connector to drive two of them but the sounds they generate will rock the room..... The Audussy auto setup takes all of the uncertainty out of what could be endless tweeking for setup. You plug the microphone (provided)into the front of the 4308, sit on the sofa or chairs (in up to five locations if you choose), hold the microphone/receiver by your ear and the system sends out signals from each individual speaker to the microphone. You can repeat the process a minimum of three times and up to five times to allow for a variety of seating locations. Once you have recorded the number of locations you wish to use, you simply click "calculate" and the system auto-sets itself to the ideal volume from each speaker. How tough is this? I still haven't figured quite why there are two remotes.... I think one is for use if you are using a remote setting - but in any event, I have only used one of the remotes and it seems to do everything I need done. Like so many multifaceted appliances, the system can be a tad overwhelming when you are getting used to drilling down to access and change settings to your liking (for example you can set up to ten different sound "types" - such as surround sound, rock concert, stadium (for sports), Dolby, jazz cafe, simulated stereo, etc). The menu tree is three and four layers deep and takes a little getting used to but well worth the effort. This is one of those deals where you simply jump into the pool and swim around until you are comfortable with what you have. It seems impervious to however much "messing" with the controls that I do so when I was originally wandering around making wrong turns on the menu tree, I would simply press menu until I was back at square "a" and start over...... You should not be disappointed - and if you are, I would look hard at your expectations, not the equipments performance.

Comments about Denon AVR4308CI - 7.1 Channel Receiver - With 3 year repair tech warranty:

I bought this receiver from Abe's of maine for a very good price compared to other retailers. [...] I was initially skeptical when I saw the low price compared to the prices offered by others(I usually do business with amazon). But after searching online reviews about Abe's of maine, I made the order. I'm very satisfied. As to the product itself, it's a very good receiver(it's a Denon!): it's powerful and the sound is cristal clear. I also like the integrated WIFI, which allows me to listen to the internet radios and the music from my computer. If you don't need HD radio, you can buy separately a Denon-3808CI for a even lower price and a Denon Wireless Network iPod dock for the WIFI function.

YOU DEFINITELY GET MORE THAN YOU PAY FOR WITH THE 4380!!....ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO UPGRADE TO 7.1 AND/OR BLU-RAY WITH ALL HDMI CONNECTIVITY....EVEN SEPARATE VIDEO OUT FOR A PROJECTOR...A BIT INTIMIDATING AT FIRST BUT THE GUI (GRAPHIC USER INTERFACE)IS VERY EASY TO NAVIGATE WITH DECENT HELP INFO ALTHOUGH THE MANUAL ISNT MUCH GOOD FOR EXPLAINING MUCH OF ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT SOME SETTINGS MEAN...DENON SUPPORT IS PRETTY GOOD FOR THAT IF YOU NEED IT BUT YOU PROBABLY WONT!...GOTTA SAY THE AUDESSEY SET-UP WAS FLAWLESS..IT GOT EVERYTHING RIGHT!

Comments about Denon AVR4308CI - 7.1 Channel Receiver - With 3 year repair tech warranty:

I choose this AVR due to its extensive list of options and the fine Denon name. If I were to do it again I would look more into Yamaha now that I know the weaknesses. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice piece of equipment. The user interface is difficult to use and the manual is useless. Its just not laid out in a simple easy to understand way. It's strong points is it does allow for almost limitless changes. It can be updated by firmware via the web. Probably the other weak point it the remote control, for the cost the remote is garbage. It looks nice on paper but get it in your hand and its a mess. The display is poor and layout just plain bad. No RF reception, you must be in the same room to use it, which makes no sense when you have to control another zone or room. I think they sell an accessory that might solve this. Plenty of connections on the back and the front. Do yourself a favor and search the internet forums like AVS first and read up on the problems and issues with the AVR you plan on buying. I guess I would buy this same unit again if I was in the market for one. Set up is a pain and the remote poorly designed. Audio streaming from your computer to the unit via cable is slow and almost useless. We opted to buy an Ipod dock the $200 model with remote, it was faster streaming and playing music via the internet then going directly to the receiver. So if you plan on buying this for streaming, buy a unit that allows for a dock and use that instead.
