Die-hard video gamers, movie and music enthusiasts now have a new ally in the fight to be entertained at any time and at the decibel level of their preference. Night owls also can get their entertainment fix without waking the rest of the house. And, since the headphones are wireless, it can all be done without fear of tripping over wires. These unique headphones simulate the sum of direct and reflected signals from ‘virtual’ speakers to create high quality surround-sound as it would be experienced in a traditional home theater. The SE-DIR800C have the capability of processing Dolby Digital(TM) and DTS(TM) surround sound as well as Dolby Pro Logic II(TM) from a gaming console, DVD player, or CD player connected through the optical or coaxial input. The closed, dynamic type headphones have a frequency response of 12 to 22,000 Hz and an impedance of 32 Ohms. The control unit uses infrared technology to send the digital audio signal to the headphones. The headphone batteries are rechargea

Excellent sound quality. You can really experience 5.1 surround having these headphones on. Very comfortable and lightweight for the size. Poor bass but would highly recommend them to anybody. I play a lot of action games on my PS3 and these headphones are perfect for it. Great buy for the money.

Comments about Pioneer SEDIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones:

These headphones are easy to install, comfortable and provide great sound. Although somewhat pricey, they provide fantastic listening pleasure. I can listen to a football game or a movie with a loud soundtrack without disturbing my wife and still get the surround sound feel. I recommend installing the transmitter vertically to improve line of sight and to listen in Dolby Pro Logic II DH mode for the best sound.

Comments about Pioneer SEDIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones:

These phones are light weight and quite comfortable. Others have said they broke in a couple of weeks, but I find that hard to believe. Perhaps if you sat on them, but then, whose falt is that! I find them quite sturdy. The sound is excellent. Buy a couple of sets of higher capacity batteries and you will get a couple of evenings of watching TV or listening to music out of a single charge. I would buy them again without hesitation. Great value at Abe's of Maine! [...]

Comments about Pioneer SEDIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones:

This is a great product for those who live in apartments. The online demos of Dolby Headphone do not really do the technology justice. Once you hear these headphones with your own material, they really come alive. I use these almost exclusively with my XBOX 360, and the rear audio channels work great for games. It's not a perfect substitute for a real 5.1 system, but it's the best I've heard. The Dolby Headphone technology is far better than the echo-y surround simulators of the past. Yes, it does introduce some delay to help your brain separate the channels, but you get used to it and it becomes transparent after awhile. Believe it or not, it helps if I visualize huge tower speakers at the limits of my room. The bass is passable, but does not come near a good subwoofer. Also, these are very line-of-sight, so plan accordingly. Overall, this product does exactly what it is supposed to: Do the best job simulating a 5.1 system. Pros and cons considered, I am very happy with the product!

Comments about Pioneer SEDIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones:

I use these at night to watch 5.1 movies. The sound is great. I can hear the smallest of sounds in movies and shows. Sometimes it sounded like someone was opening a door in my house when it was just the movie. Great separation of sound. I wish there was a little more low end. Overall I am very satisfied with these headphones.

I use this product to gain my privacy as my room is next to a great room with awesome surround sound. I can't compete so these headphones are just the ticket for me. I have been a pioneer junkie from the early days of stereo turntables, headphones and the like. These are the best in the business for my needs and I love the quality and sound for sure.

Comments about Pioneer SEDIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones:

I was eyeing a new home theater system while at the same time lamenting that I would never be able to crank it up in my condo. Then I found these. They sound just like real 5.1 sound (only lacking the feel of it) without disrespecting the neighbors and at a fraction of the price! Also saves space and spared the labor, cost, and damage of installing speakers.
Performance is incredible when connected to a digital optical source. I've never heard headphones or speakers that sound as clear and have as little noise. Yet they don't shut the world out. You can still hear the phone ring or a knock at the door.
The infrared system is great too. I was worried that I would have to sit still in a very particular spot to have uninterrupted sound but that is not the case at all. I can walk around anywhere in the room and the sound remains flawless. You really have to try to make the sound cut out either by leaving the room completely or by cupping both, yes both, hands over the headphones (there is an IR receiver on each ear and only one has to "see" the signal for you to get full sound). I even tried ducking behind furniture and the sound was still crystal clear because the IR signal bounces off walls.
I am also very pleased with the batteries. I'm continually surprised at how long they last on a single charge. I haven't been able to keep track of how many hours of movies and videogames I listen to between charges! Better yet, batteries are standard AA so you can stick in another pair (Ni-MH rechargeable or regular) while the included pair are recharging.
The only drawback is it's for one person at a time. Another set of headphones can plug into the base unit but then they have the cord to put up with.
I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to enjoy surround sound in an apartment or condo. Also for anyone who already has a home theater system, but often watches movies alone.

Comments about Pioneer SEDIR800C Infrared Wireless Surround Sound Headphones:

I use the product at night or early morning when I don't want to disturb my neighbors with my 7.1 surround sound speakers. I find the sounds from the headphones are excellent and can be adjusted to various surround features. I have them connected to a digital switcher so that I can listen to either my cable or HD DVD's or regular DVD. I find that the headphones do become uncomfortable if worn more than 3 hours but that may just be me.
