Comments about PIONEER AVICF900BT In-Dash DVD Player GPS Navigator:

This is a very good product. However, there are certain subtle issues which makes me not to give this a 5 star. The biggest problem is the time it takes to boot up. This device uses Windows CE. However, that automatically makes it a good choice for making customizations. There is a forum dedicated to Pioneer Devices and I would strongly encourage people to take a look at that site before making up your mind. This forum is [@]I am using this device in conjunction with an already existing rootmounted DVD player in my minivan so that I can play divx files on that player as well. The good about this device are;1) Support for DivX2) Big screen compared to portable GPS devices3) Highly customizable4) Certain details - like a graphic display of the route on local roads, highways etc. - which you wont find in a portable GPS device. The bad are;1) Long delay in boot up time. Though vastly improved after the recent update, its still around 20 to 30 seconds sometimes.2) Its favorites are limited to 5 entries. You need to create your own custom POIs to store your favorites if you have more than 5.3) Address details are not very accurate. Sometimes the device can't find the correct address and hence it wouldn't display those addresses at all. For example, to navigate to my home, it can't find the house number, so it would simply stop at the street level. 4) It supports DivX, but not xVid and other formats. You can change the header information and make the device "think" that its playing DivX.5) Most of the control is done through the touch screen and most often there is a slight delay between consecutive touches. This could be very frustruating.Overall, I am very happy with this product and I hope that with more service packs, most of the issues I mentioned earlier could be addressed.
