I just got the player last week and it was a breeze to set-up.

Loaded the first blue-ray fast very low wait time and worked excellent with DVD's.

Samsung needs to get their act together on this one. After exploring for answers, we finally got the Bluray player to work, but only after hours of fussing and trial and error. Others have done the hard work - now Samsung needs to get their act together and write good firmware. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

My only issue is not with Samsung, but with Movie rentals whose info claims a one time need for an activation number, and numerous emails with movie rentals which still require a number each day...Nobody there can give a sound ans...several times over three weeks claimed my issue was to go to "engineering" and have never heard a word from them....renting movies does work well except for this glitch...

I hooked it up to a 52" Samsung LCD TV and I got the compatability I expected. I like the fact that when you turn on the DVD player, it automatically turns on the TV and opts for the DVD connection option.

It's also nice having 2 remotes that control the TV.

We watch a lot of Netflix DVDs. Now that we own this machine, regular DVDs look spectacular and the Blue rays are out of this world, on my LCD 1080p TV. Netflix instant view works flawlessly and Pandora Box is a great addition to my music media experience.

I ordered this based on reviews for the 1500 and higher models but was a little unsure as no one had reviewed the 1600. Thought about Play Station 3 but just didn't need the game system and thought the Netflix and Pandora would be more what I wanted. It arrived in just a few days and in moments I had it hooked up through HDMI and a few minutes later was connected to internet and Pandora Music was playing. Only had regular format DVD's to test and was very pleasantly surprised at the upconversion. The Matrix I was just killer in the detail and some parts seemed almost in 3D as small details now were gripping my eyes. My 17 year old daughter and I would both look at each other repeatedly in surprise when very familiar scenes were now showing vivid details never seen before in standard DVD disc. Dave Matthews Concert was drastically more clear and rich colors. David Copperfield Magic DVD was great. It is true that the up convert is limited to the source used but so far 99% of what I have watched of my old collection looked like a new video and stunned at times by the increase in texture, color and contrast. I haven't even tried a Blu-Ray yet but my main concern was that old DVD's would just not look much different. Very happy with this player and [...]. Samsung is really on the ball here. The fold down door which covers the front would not be my first choice for design but have no problem with it as .... I'm going to be looking at the movie, music and Netflicks not the DVD player which really look great as well. This player is a taste of the future with ability to be networked to internet and firmware upgraded with a push of a button. I'm sure their is better for double the money but for me this was perfect for my needs.
