I purchased a Samsung dvd player last year. Was really disappointed with how slow the player works , with both dvd's and streaming from Netflix
This Sony is considerably faster and was $50 less with more streaming capabilities
My boyfriend set it up for me and he's a wizz with electronics and is up to snuff on the latest stuff and he likes it a lot.

The player works great for playing DVD's, though I have no BD's to try, I'm sure they would play well too. It's a little slow to load, but we're still talking less than two minutes. However, the wireless streaming is a little clunky. The machine suddenly loses the connection when streaming sometimes and it takes a few to several minutes to re-establish it. Then the movie must be restarted from the beginning. I don't know if it's the machine or just the way streaming works, but when fast forwarding (or reverse), the fast speed is way too fast and difficult to stop where you want. Plus you have to wait for it to restart before you can try again to get to the place you wanted. So it can takes minutes of going back and forth to get where you want to go. It is also incapable of slow advance (pressing pause, then FF) so it doesn't advance by frame like almost all DVD players do. Still, this unit is far superior to the Sony DVD it replaced. As to quality/price, I would definitely buy it again.

Connected to my Sony HDTV and Ascend Acoustics 5.1(Hsu sub-woofer) speaker system with Pioneer 1020 receiver, it makes for an incredible home theater experience. Picture is perfect and sound is absolutely unbelievable. Fast loading, easy to set up and use

I needed to upgrade to Blu-ray and Internet video streaming. Sony has the solution in one unit with the "Sony BDPS570 Blu-ray Disc Player".

It is 3D-ready, plays Blu-ray Discs does up converting on standard DVD's, built in Wi-Fi connection to you wireless router, Internet streaming, net-flicks etc., view your photos videos and music through e-z accessible front USB port.

This is one cool player for the money and 3d compatible upgrade coming soon.

This player starts DVDs and BluRay discs very fast. So far, it works very well. The picture quality is excellent. It works well with the SONY XBR9 (when the BDPS570 turns on, it automatically starts the TV as well.

Very easy to access internet via built-in Wifi. Immediatley "found" and hooked up to both my "N" and "G" networks. Better instant Netflix quality than I had been led to expect--virtually equal to my "hardwired" X-Box 360.
