The Pioneer DVL-919 has solid video performance. It has 90% of the video performance of the HLD-X9 at only a fraction of the cost. The one I purchased was manufactured in June 2008 which was a total surprise for me. The only complaint that I have is that there is component video output for DVD only. For laserdisc playback, there is no color component video output (you get only a black and white picture).
