HUGE Capacity. It completely replaces the often ugly cable box that your cable provider provides. The remote that comes with it is the best one Tivo has produced, and it's easy to figure out. The Tivo service is a ton better than a DVR service your cable company provides. You can watch Youtube even on your own account, Listen to online radio, download movies (for a fee), view pictures from your computer, and if you have another tivo networked in your home, they automatically see each other and connect, and then you can have the fun and transfer shows from one to the other.

I use the machine daily...no matter when I turn the TV on, there is something I really want to watch ready for me!

With this HUGE storage, I can archive for months!

This machine does everything it says it will. My only complaints are that it takes a long time (3+ hours) to download a movie if you purchase an on demand movie through TIVO instead of through your cable company, and that the TIVO TV Listing menu does not show you if you have arleady scheduled a program to record. You have to go into a seperate sub-menu to see what is scheduled to record.

Allow ample time for your cable provider to get the CableCard installed and configured properly. It took our technician well over a hour.

If you do not have a network connection nearby, don't forget to order the Tivo wireless adaptor. Unlike previous Tivo series, the Series 3 does not recognize non-Tivo wireless adaptors.

We had a lifetime tivo seriers 2 system and wanted to upgrade our entertainment system to HD. I talked to both Tivo and Comcast before I ordered this unit and was assured I would continue to have all my comcast services and could upgrade my tivo service. Well it turned out tivo required [$] for a new lifetime service, my comcast ondemand is no longer available [...]
