I got this for my D70 which is currently on a tripod and plugged into a computer via USB and to power using this EH5 ac adapter. The computer is running Nikon Camera Control and I have a macro setup on the camera to activate the Camera Control software to begin taking time-lapse photos at a certain time each day.

The cord is just a power cord, but it does its job. I wish it cost a little less, or there were a generic brand option available, but i'm not aware of any. The power cord is the same one that goes into the battery charger, so i have 2 of those now, that's good.

This powers a D40 used in a photo station setup. This power supply is useful for any application where the camera needs to stay powered on indefinitely. One side benefit is that, apparently, the remote control timer does not time out at all as long as the external power supply is powering the camera. Under battery power, the longest setting was to time out after 15 minutes of inactivity.
