I purchase this for myself this Christmas and had it shipped to our daughter house in Hawaii...we recorded so many memories as she was in her final phase of preparaing for a deployment to Iraq. Comments about CANON EOS 50D with 28-135 mm IS Lens:

Immediately out of the box, using some of the photo modes I was able to produce photos that impressed some seasoned photographer friends.
I was able to catch phenomenal pictures of Blue Angels flyovers with amazing detail, and pictures of my children that belong in a frame.

My only difficulty so far has been mastering some of the manual modes. Perhaps it's the abundance of features, but I haven't found it particularly intuitive. I've purchased a book on using the 50D that I think will help me get the most for using the camera to more artistic effect.

Overall, I think that this will serve as a fantastic tool to help me re-engage in the hobby of photography.

I just stepped up from the Rebel XT to the 50D. I am starting to get into photography and my experience with this camera and lens has been great so far. The 6fps is great for shooting my kids sports events. This camera is letting me expand my photographic knowledge and try new things with ease. I have nothing negative to say about this camera. Pictures so far, even with the speedlite flash, have been great.

The Canon 50D is a top of the line mid priced camera. Controls are set up with easy access to make quick changes. It has a solid feeling to it and not to heavy to carry. The LED is bright and easy to see in full sunlight. Canon has incorporated many features as they use in their professional models. It has quickly become my favorite camera. Be sure to purchase a fast CF card and some addtional batteries. You will be taking a lot of pictures. It is a wonderful camera that is fun to use.

Comments about CANON EOS 50D with 28-135 mm IS Lens:

I bought this camera with the 28-135mm IS lens specifically to take on safari to South Africa. It did seem a little heavy but that just made me feel more comfortable that is was made very sturdy. Using the 28-135 lens also allowed me to only take one other lens, my canon 100-400 mm IS lens. The combination of the two lenses provided me with the means to cover almost any shooting situation I encountered, including shooting in low light. I am very pleased [...]

Where other are from Indonieasia ..Tiwan and such. Remember ..you pay for what you get...so Always Buy CANON.

Comments about CANON EOS 50D with 28-135 mm IS Lens:

I bought this camera because I have grandchildren and I really want to be able to capture them effectively. While I've not had the chance to test that, my other photography passion is close-up photography of flowers. This camera has proven itself to be marvelous for this type of photography. Having the IS lens makes a tremendous positive difference.

The camera is a bit heavy but it is well balanced, easy to handle and the LCD and controls are easy to use. I'm thinking that Canon made great strides in writing the manual (This is the latest in a long line of Canon camera in my life).

I am a Photographer/Botanist, so this camera is great. It is a little heavy, however this is mainly due in part by the weight of the lens. This camera is well made, sturdy and I love the controls. Compared to a Rebel it much easier to navigate when taking pictures in my opinion. This is a great camera if you don't want to spend a fortune and yet want a better quality than the Rebals. It is definitly a more advanced camera.

Comments about CANON EOS 50D with 28-135 mm IS Lens:

This camera package is really really good. when i got the box in my hands i couldnt wait to open it! the first hour went with just looking at this work of art. the color, the shape, and the very well formed "handle" on the camera makes this a Beauty!
when i fired it up and heard the Clicking sound of the camera starting the first time i was amazed to see the 100's of settings and the great design of the software in the camera.
all the buttons on this camera are placed in great places and all the features and things you can control just with a couple of buttons are amazing.
i have now tried to describe this camera to the best of my abillities without completely overdoing it and without using terms that are impossible to understand for a "first time Photographer".
If you are out ther eloking for a professional camera that is still relatively cheap BUY The EOS 50D it is as simple as that:)
Here are some specs:
15.1MP CMOS
DiG!C 4 processor (FAST!)
3200 ISO !
6.3 Frames Per sec (Pics per sec) Amazing for a camera this cheap with that many MP's
3" Screen (with Live View!) easy to see pics and info!
9Point all cross-type AF
Sensor cleaning program build in!
HDMI port, never been easier to connect to HD tv, Remember to buy the right HDMI chord!!
Image stabilizer!

it is my fav camera to use and i am prob gonna keep using it for a very very long time.
Peace.

Some might find the camera heavy, but I don't mind. To me, it feels solid! I am completely amazed by the quality and detail of the images. As of this review, I haven't really had the opportunity to truly experiment fully with it, but from what I have done, my images are amazing! So happy I went for the Canon instead of the Nikon- although the video option on the Nikon D90 was tempting, if I want to shoot video, I'll get my high end video camera for that. This camera is all about still shots, and I'm thrilled I finally own a digital SLR!
