I love this camera. It is easy to use in Auto mode, yet you may use it in manual mode and "do your own thing." The different automatic settings are also excellent for shooting night shots, portraits, etc.

I used it the first time in my flight to LA, so while I was on board.. I took a lot of pictures and every shot turn out the way I've seen it and how I want others to see it. I just love this camera because it captured the sight that I want to share with my loved ones.. It made my flight enjoyable and I didn't feel the long hours of travel.

First off, I am not a professional, nor do I ever plan on being a pro photographer. I have used Canon cameras (older point & shoot digital ones) and was pleased with them so I looked at Canon first. I bought the T1i camera because I have kids starting in sports & wanted something to be able to capture the "action". My first impression was how easy it was to just get started using it. A quick flip through the manual & you can easily get going on just the point & shoot method. Now that I have read through enough of the manual, this camera has so much more to offer. The picture quality is unbelievable, very crisp, clear & vibrant. Easy to use, with all the controls right in a thumb's grasp and quick response times. I have owned this camera a little over 2 months and have already shot over 1500 pictures with it. Some are just to familiarize myself with the camera, but others, I have already captured heirloom quality photographs. I am very pleased with this purchase & wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to someone in my position or even just starting out in photography.

Let me start by saying that this is my very first SLR camera but I absolutely love the T1i. It's simple to use for novices like me, yet has tons of functions. Best of all, the pictures come out great! i would definitely buy this camera again. The video feature is nice too and even though it's only 20fps, it was fast enough to capture my 3 year old niece on a train at the amusement park.

It's a good camera and a fun toy adding enjoyment to my family. The performance with natural sunlight is good, But the performance in dark room is not so lovely. I don't like flash, it makes faces a little weird. It's light and very portable, but the cheap plastic makes it feel crispy and not so "material".

My wife is a novice photographer and I was a semi-pro 35mm photographer years ago. We share the camera and both love it. The auto features help my wife take beautiful pictures and I love the manual flexibility and the incredible low light sensitivity. I do recommend the image stabilizing lens feature as it enhances the low light photography capability. I always shoot one auto-flash picture and one no-flash picture of each subject and I am amazed at the no-flash picture quality.

My wife has always had a ultra thin camera, but wanted something that took pictures instantly. This camera, while big, does just that, particularly when combined with a 30 mb/sec memory card. It has been fun to learn how to use this outside of the auto settings. The battery seems to last a very long time. We are very happy with this purchase- we took about 600 pictures in the first week alone (and kept about 200). My only complaints is that the lens that comes with the camera does not have a very good zoom distance, but I guess that's why they have all the other lenses available.

This is an awesome camera with fantastic image quality. New buyers should understand that the start up cost for this exceeds just the cost of the camera. You'll have to consider costs of lenses, cases, tripods, UV filter to protect your lens. Also, if you're coming from a point and shoot, this is substantially bulkier, so expect a different experience with this, but it's well worth it for the image quality and versatility.

This is my first Digital SLR because it's the first one in my price range that also shoots video. I love photographing nature, birds, colorful sky, green valleys against purple mountains (just like the song) and I love photographing parties and my family. This camera is light, small and had all the auto ability of a pocket camera and all the over ride features of my old fashioned Canon SLR. The videos are amazing and even with this low price lens, the stills are unbelievable. The only thing they don't tell you, which actually makes sense now, is that the video stops for the period that you snap a still, then starts up again. If you snap away while videoing, you get jumpy results. Otherwise, it's an incredible camera for the price.

I have used previous Canon products, they are reliable, easy to use, and take great shots, even when I don't! Multiple settings allow me to "play and learn", while the auto settings assure me of a great shot.
The photoshop program that comes with it, is daunting to say the least...I still use my photo explosion...

This is my first digital SLR. I was able to use it right out of the box with good results. I still need to explore some of the manual modes and settings but I have found it very user friendly. A lens upgrade would be a good idea but the 18-55 is adequate to start with.

This is my first SLR coming from a Canon point and shoot. I thought that had nice pics but this T1i blows it out of the water and you do not even have to be an experienced user to get great pictures with all of the auto modes. Love the Custom Auto setting!
The HD video capture is a nice feature for those of us that want short clips that are worth watching and they look great with a little extra cost out of pocket for a mini HDMI. And you can take stills with a click of a button while it is recording video.
You can't beat the color and clarity of the 15.1 pics and they average about 5.5 megs per pic. Compression has come a long way.
I have purchased a 55-250mm Canon IS lens to compliment the 18-55 IS kit lens and got a 50mm f1.8 for portraits and close ups. All in all, I have a pretty sweet new hobby and have definitely renewed my interest in photography.
Put it all together with my Swiss Gear Mythos camera bag and I have still have room to tote around my point and shoot for those times that you just need something smaller.

We use this for family pictures and casual photo jobs (kids birthdays).
This was an upgrade from the original Digital Rebel. Everything about it has improved. It can be as easy or as complex as you need. Very fast, on the sports mode I would sometimes take multiple shots when I was thinking I was taking only one (this is a good thing by the way).
Cannot think of any cons.

This is an amazing camera. The HD video shooting facility is absolutely fabulous. Some portion of my irrational exuberence about this camera comes since I upgraded from a point and shoot. But having used (not owned) other DSLRs prior to that, I would have to say that I pretty happy with the quality of the images, stability (the IS lens really helps).

This camera is easy to use from the get-go. I love the image quality. I use it mainly for sports photography. My only issue right now is trying to get sharp pictures when using the telephoto lens at 300 mm (I purchased the 70-300 IS) without a tripod. But I'm still in a learning curve. I'm getting better at it.

This camera is a great camera and is the best in the compact SLR models. It is the first in its class to offer High Definition Video and the HDMI link makes it real easy to connect to your television. The pictures at night are good but come out great using a tripod. The buttons can be a bit confusing at times when you want to point and shoot but almost every camera I've had seems like the buttons were off just slightly. For those of you who have large hands I recommend the battery extension. It adds another couple inches to the base and is easier to handle for people who can handle the extra weight. I would recommend a large SDHC card I currently use 8GB cards which hold about 100 full resolution pictures. Also I found that you must make sure your card reader reads SDHC not just SD because of the larger format the older SD readers do not work with the camera's SDHC cards.

Got a few chances to use this camera for both continuous mode pictures and HD video on some high speed sports action, and it was well up to the task, the output from this gem is incredible. I would highly suggest a monopod for video use, especially if you drink a lot of coffee, like me...

My only complaint is that the internal mic catches quite a bit of AF noise off the lens when shooting HD video, but I am not sure if this is attributed to the lens or the camera, either way it's easily filtered

This is an excellent choice for first time DSLR buyers looking for an entry level camera. It is light weight yet packed with features. Comes with a bright LCD and niceties like "creative auto" mode that is very useful for people who are learning how to use an SLR.
