have so far used camera only for Holicay pictures, birthdays, family pics, and scenery and so far this camera way outperforms my previous digital, which we couldn't carry enough batteries with us!! This one I haven't even recharged the battery yet, and it been months! Very happy.

This is a great little camera, in fact I liked it so much I bought one for my daughter. It's easy to carry in my purse, so I always have it with me. Outdoor pictures turn out beautiful, and I discovered that using the "night scene" for lower light indoor pictures works great. I love the image stabilization and the 3 inch screen. My only complaint would be that the control wheel is hard to use and get used to. Otherwise great camera!

My wife is a professional photographer so we have plenty of cameras around the house but I wanted a point and shoot to take into the backcountry hiking and snowboarding. I settled on the Canon SD790IS after looking at a lot of other cameras. I narrowed my search to two, the Sony DSC T series and this one. The canon is a bit larger and the controls are much easier to use with my big "man hands". There is also much less shutter lag with the canon. My wife wishes there were more manual options on it and the digital zoom is worthless but it is a point and shoot after all. All in all I love this camera, it fits in my pocket, takes great pictures and movies and costs less than it's competitors.

I love the features of this camara. The color acccent and color swap are really cool. The zoom is really awesome also. The only thing that I don't like is that "action" shots are difficult without the flash.

I purchased this product to replace my Casio Exilim. I used the Exilim for about 4 years prior, and loved it, but the newer ones were getting smaller and smaller, and I was afraid of camera shake when taking a photo. So, I purchased this camera. I've used it for a couple of weeks now, photographing my children indoors and out. I find that the lag time is a little too long for me to be 100% satisfied with the product. However, it does take great photos and it has numerous settings for different situations. I would recommend it for anyone who isn't in a rush to get a great shot.

The 3 inch LCD screen is excellent in terms of being able to see detail. The picture quality is excellent, with 10 megapixels being plenty. One con is that I have not yet figured out a way to zoom out of the picture to it's original size instantly, this feature was available on a Nikon camera I had. The autofocus works well, the flash doesn't seem too bright, and the camera itself is easy to slip into your pocket. This camera got the highest rating on dpreview for it's class, and it does not disappoint. [...]

This camera is totally worth the price. Maybe the look is not so chic, but the picture quality it produces is comparable to much more expensive cameras. One thing is that I will need some time to know how long this camera can last.

I have used many digital cameras ranging from Semi Pro DSLRs to cheap point and shoots. As an enthusiast and from that perspective I will state that this is one of the best point and shoot cameras I have ever used or seen. The images are crystal clear, and the performance is impressive. Canon makes superior Point and Shoots to almost all others out there.

That being said, the 35-105 range of the camera leaves something to be desired on the wide end. And even though it is quite slim I would have preferred it to be a little smaller to make it even more pocketable. Of course it also has all the limitations of a point and shoot, and as such I would recommend owning both a DSLR and a point and shoot because there are appropriate times for either.

OVERALL: Great performance for its value.

This camera is great! The pictures turn out clear and the colors are saturated (in a good way). Even if you don't like the color, you can adjust it on the camera and you can also crop your pictures before even uploading them onto computer (which used to take me forever with my old camera). I am very pleased and would recommend this camera to all of my friends!

I owned a much older model that I used for the past 5 years and I broke it. I purchased this to replace it. The screen is large, making it easy to see how the picture turned out incase I need to retake the photo.

I bought this to replace my Canon SD300 which I bought 5 years ago (and I loved it) - the SD790IS has better software, takes better pictures and has a better screen than the SD300, but it's a tad bigger.

The most important thing about this camera is the large bright screen. It makes viewing you picrues on the spot easy in almost any light. The mage stabilization is also a real plus.

Small- easy to take anywhere. Great movie clips with sound. There is no eye piece but the 3in screen more than makes up for it.

the 790 is about the best point & shoot on the market. i wish, however, it had a external flash shoe, and, this camera suffers from the same problem as all point & shoots, "noise" at iso above 400; i wish technology could solve that problem. i know there are aftermarket programs that can partially correct the problem but really, do you want to have to adjust every photograph? not me. overall a GREAT camera.

I use it for casual photo shooting. It's great for taking pictures with my young children. I have high cap SD card and I also use it for video shooting. It's great in every aspect. Battery life is not too long compared with my SD750.

This camera packs a lot of features into a user-friendly interface. Photo quality is excellent and I find myself reaching for it instead of my Canon EOS because it slips into a pocket or purse to quickly capture the moment.

Note: I didn't notice online that it had no viewfinder. It can be challenging to see the screen in some lights, but with some practice you know your pictures will be great anyway.

My wife loves her new camera although it is a bit too bulky (for me) she does not mind the size. It is easy to use, has a nice bright large screen and takes great photos. Controls logic is flawed. Basic operations are easy but anything beyond that ... good luck. Too much lag for today’s technology.

I use this as a stand in for my SLR cameras when it is not practicle to carry a large camera. The sd790is will compose as well as my d70s. Recently used it to take short video clips at the Moto GP at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It does a good job when in a resonable range.Good telephoto shots with opticle zoom. Menu is easy and acessable. don't have to scroll through screens to find settings and make changes. everything is at my fingertips.highly recomend canon point and shoot over my sony cyber shot.
