This camera is an excellent choice for the beginner as well as the more advanced photo enthusiast. The photos are sharp, and have vibrant color and detail. It is very easy to use; this is my first digital camera purchase, I have held back for fear of technology overload, but this small camera is lightweight and so simple to use that any novice can do it; the quality of the photos will make it desirable for the more technologically savvy as well. The photos are as good as the ones that larger more complicated models provide. The price was very good, if you are looking for a camera that is small, compact, priced in the $200.00+ range and produces great photos with a simple point and shoot-- buy it!

This is the second sd series camera I've purchased as the first one was the sd-700. The overall performance and quality of the sd-890 is excellent and very pleased with the price/performance. The sd0990 is a better performer but more expensive.

This is a nice little camera with a great zoom, unfortunately it doesn't have a wide angle. It's wonderful for taking pictures of birds or people from far away, but if I want to take a picture of a building, a mountain, or a group of friends, I have to back up until I hit the wall or back off the cliff. It's really a shame. Next time, I'll buy the SD870 instead.

This is a camera which I think I bought after reading thoroughly the reviews. The thing that I am disappointed about this camera is poor picture quality. I had Sony Cybershot DSC-N2 which I gifted to my brother and I wanted to graduate to a better camera. So I went to a more trusted brand in Cameras and went in for a higher zoom. But I am terribly disappointed by the picture quality. Sony had a great picture quality.

In my opinion, there is no point in getting such bigger pics if the picture quality just sucks.

I'm familar with Canon operation system, so everything looks fine to me except the power button, which is not a good design, actually wired, and hard to use. Anyway, I like this camera.

A little heavier than expected and the roundness makes it a little clumsy. Also very difficult to see screen it direct sunlight

I bought this camera the first time in April 2008 right after it hit the market; I loved it from the start! I specifically bought it to take sunset photos on a cruise to Alaska. The sunset photos turned out great!!

The camera disappered during a move in December; but I loved the camera so much that I bought a 2nd one in February 2009! Considering that I paid over $400 the first time and thought it was worth it then, the under $200 price tag in February was a steal in my eyes!

The camera is so easy to throw in my purse or pocket and takes great photos. I used the 20x digital zoom recently and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the images. Can't recommend the camera enough!

Excellent camera! LOVE the 5X zoom! The SD890 has little surprises but decent battery life and great pictures. The picture quality fits right in the middle when compared with the cheaper SD1100 and the pricey SD990. The power button is hard to press, which prevents it from turning on in your pocket BUT makes it hard to quickly snap a few with one hand. GREAT BUY FOR THE PRICE.

This camera is great for travel, fits in your pocket easily for those day trips. If you don't like the pocket idea, get a hard case that will protect the camera on your belt or around your neck while exploring. Takes great pictures, and the included software is very impressive. Bought a 2nd one for a present for daughter and her family, as it will be perfect for her active family lifestyle.

This camera dose a great job. I use it capture the action of a very active 5 year old. And it catches all the movement with out blurring. It is also used at the aquarium frequently. And does a great job capturing all the color and movement of the fish and animals.

The menus are really easy to get to with the dial controller on the back of the camera. Quick easy changes are simple.

The video quality is also very good. Catches the sound very well. Good for short video clips.

I highly recommend this camera!!!

We used this camera on a recent trip to Germany and France. It worked like a champ. the SD890IS performed admirably while we were shooting the requisite family and landmark photos. One surprise was how well the camera held up while getting drenched in some of the rains we encountered. We're not camera pros, but we do shoot a lot of photos with a number of cameras, and this is one of the best we've used.

Since I take technical images as part of a car photo shoot, I appreciate the articulated view finder, and that was the deciding purchase factor. Shoots great little movies, too. Don't like that the lens cap isn't securely fixed when it should be.

i always carry it with me so that i can capture what ever i like and so that i won't miss anything. i use when i m travelling when i am with family and friends. its really cool and i love it. easy to handle, easy to keep picture quality is excellent. picture won't get blurred. nice video capturing.

means i really enjoy it.now it became an important part of my life.

i don't like just one thing the power button which makes me worried that my camera won't get damaged soon. otherwise it perfect and always set go.

so thats why i say " just don't think go and grab it before its too late"

Small & takes great pictures. Good LCD with manual viewfinder. Movie mode with time laspe usefull. Most controls easy to use. OK battery life. Powerfull zoom. Great little camera with 10 meg & 5X zoom.
Cons: Some plastic parts seem cheap & may break easy (on button & battery door). Like all compact digital cameras has too many controls & some are hard to set. Thumbwheel control button difficult to use.

My husband mostly uses it, and he wanted a camera that fits in his pocket but still takes hi-res pix. This one does. He appreciates the power switch being a bit hard to turn on -- his last camera often got turned on by accident when it was inside his pocket. No chance of that happening with this camera.

Purchased this camera Christmas and use it for all my photographic needs. Researched long and hard before purchase and am very happy with this decision. Having a viewfinder in addition to the LCD is fabulous and something that was non-negotiable in my purchase decision. It's still just easier to get a non-blury photo using a viewfinder. Photos are brilliant. Downloading is fast and easy. There is a bit of lag time but I knew that going in, and decided it was livable for all the other wonderful qualities of this camera. You cannot beat this camera!

A good overall all purpose camera. I will consider it highly recommended in the super compact category with 5x optical zoom. Very quick focus. It has macro mode. The manual option is quite limited with shutter lag starting at 1 sec. Very crisp contrast and nice natural color tone. Overall, if you need a compact all purpose camera with rich features, this is a perfect fit. I gave up a Canon S5IS for this one. So you know...

It is a real nice handy camera.
The Elph series of Canon has great features.
I love its video quality.

Although it is little complex when you try to use its detailed feature but i can't blame canon on this it something realted to the professional photography.

The camera takes very good pictures of still or moderately moving subjects. As with most point-and-shoot cameras, there is a reasonable lag between shots and very little chance of capturing fast motion effectively. My wife likes it because it is very compact, but it still fits well in my hand. Overall a very solid camera.

I have been using SD890IS for almost 5 months now. great experience, image stabilizer is a good feature if you are like not that professional like me, never had a problem with this device; great indoor and outdoor usage, 5X zoom is great, however I didn't used it so much, but it is good to have it. low light performance is also outstanding for me.
