My brother bought this camera and I had been shopping for one. When I saw his, I went home and bought one. It's so easy to use, takes great photos (even for an amateur), fits in a pocket so it is always ready for a shot. I love it and would purchase it again in a heartbeat.

Good little camera. It can do lots of things. You will really want to read the instruction manual to really get the best out of the camera because of its many great features! It takes great pictures, for the most part easy to use, and fun to use. But i really like it and is a nikon so you know you can trust it.

I researched point and shoot digital cameras extensively before I decided on the CoolPix S550. Nikon was recommended by a professional photographer. I'm thrilled with the quality of the photos its taken. I don't love the computer downloading wizard though. I look forward to using this camera for a long time!

Love the camera. I ordered the plum but it came in the dark blue. I was disappointed but too late to send back and still use for the holidays. It records the memories and that is what counts.

This camera is easy to use. I bought it for my daughter but her friend had the same one and she wanted a different color. After looking at the features and trying it out I decided to keep it for myself...she can have my old one! This Nikon is very small, yet has a nice screen and the quality is great for the price. It's buttons are easy to figure out, even for someone like me who is used to a different make digital camera. I haven't used it too many times but plan on learning it and using it a lot over the holidays. [...]

I feel Nikon coolpix s550 is best in its range.I did slip it out of my hands couple of times but still it shows its strength in construction. More over it is worth while buying due to its compatibility and it does have strong battery life.

Provide image stabilization with this camera. the image quality os good but due the shaky hands it gets disturbed. The Nikon camera which I had previously had image stabilization facility. It should be added to this camera too.

Nikon S550 is an easy to use camera, for naive users. Most of the photos can be taken in Auto mode. Modes, like Smile mode is the one which I liked the most, as the photo is captured as the subject smiles. Similarly, the Blink Warning is also a good feature, which shows if a person (Face detected) blinks eyes.
The Video VGA quality is also quite good. The Cons,there are not many Photo modes in the Nikon S550, which would have helped to get more sophisticated photos(like Aperture, Shutter modes, or closeups.)
But, overall the Slim and easy to use Nikon has great colors and sharpness being captured in Daylight.

For a compact camera, this is one of the best. I would prefer if it had the "wheel" like on the Nikon s51, it navigates easier and quicker. Otherwise, there is nothing else I can say poorly about the camera.
