Comments about Nikon D300S Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm DX VR II Lens:

Got the camera about 3 days before my daughter's wedding. It worked very well. We are all happy with the results.

Only problem I had was that it is hard to see LCD display in sunlight when shooting video. And of course, hard to hold it still when waving out far enough to see the screen with my old eyes. However, HDTV is a freebie and not the main purpose of the camera. So viewed that way, it is not really a criticism. What else could they do?

Comments about Nikon D300S Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm DX VR II Lens:

The camera has many features that will keep you busy to learn. Nikon.com has a tutorial for some of the features to get you started. The features are easy to learn, even though some of the custom features I have not yet used, I can see they will be usefull to set up different shooting modes.

Comments about Nikon D300S Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm DX VR II Lens:

I'm a new dSLR user and this is a camera I will definitely grow into! I'm a casual user who utilizes the camera to photograph my kids playing sports, family time, etc. This camera is a good size and feels solid in your hands. Battery charges quicky and lasts a long time. Only Con is that it doesn't come programmed with "scene" settings, but that "defecit" will make you a stronger photographer!

Comments about Nikon D300S Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm DX VR II Lens:

Was a 35mm photographer, point and shoot was disappointing with speed.
This camera is great to get continuous shots...like stop action movies.
Use the instruction book a lot; lots of controls and need to practice.

Comments about Nikon D300S Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm DX VR II Lens:

I purchased the Nikon D300s a few weeks ago as an upgrade to my Nikon D200. I had the D200 since it was released and finally decided to purchase this camera because I wanted a faster camera. What sold me to the Nikon D300s were the 7fps, 51 focal points, Live option, and Dual card slots I do like the ease to custom set all features to any style of photography. The camera feels solid and sturdy to the hands. It is well balanced. HD video is good when stationary but does need improvement. It is not meant for video photos but for a quick short video it is great. This camera is definitely not for a beginner photographer or someone that has never worked with a Digital SLR because of the many controls to get that perfect photo. Although you can leave it a P setting but for that it is best to purchase a high quality point and shoot camera. A big con is Price when purchasing with a lens. For a beginner it is probably best to buy it with a lens kit. Finally, Abe's of Maine was an Ideal place to purchase this product. [...]
