Comments about Nikon D80 10.2 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

I also purchased the Multi-Bat-Pk, I started out using my Nikon D80 and 18-135mm lens on the manual settings only for almost a year, took 7,000+ shots before I ever saw the low battery start to go down. I shoot RAW/JPEG, Fine and Large and I use (3) 4GB SDHC Extreme III cards by SanDisk. I will use 8GB and 16GB SDHC cards when I travel. The Camera and Lens have worked flawlessly in the Hot days of Summer and the Cold days of Winter. I really love this Nikon Kit. I'm now looking to buy a new AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED_IF VR Nikkor lens (from Abe's)... Human Interest / Wildlife is what I enjoy shooting. The D80 has all the features I would ever use and more. The only con would be that it takes a long time to learn and use all the features that this camera has to offer, but I will continue to study, learn and enjoy this my Nikon D80 system. I also use DxO Optics Pro 6.1 software, which really helps on my RAW conversions. I look forward to many years using my great equipment. Have fun shooting !

Comments about Nikon D80 10.2 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

I have taken pictures for about 10 years, however, I am still very much a novice photographer. I have used the Sony MVC-FD73 0.3MP Mavica Digital Camera w/ 10x Optical Zoom and had great luck. Then I purchased a Nikon CoolPix S550 and have loved this camera. The best bang for the buck. However, I really wanted to move into a Digital SLR camera.
I took a short course on photography and we used the Nikon D-40 Camera, and at the time the D-80 had just been released. By the time I had saved enough money to purchase this camera, the model was being discontinued. I have only had the camera a few weeks, but I have taken some really amazing photos. The only problem currently with the camera is my own inability to use the camera to its potential. I hope that by the end of the summer, I will have learned all the bells and whistles of this camera. I would highly recommend this camera to anybody looking at getting this type of camera. I have had excellent luck with Nikon brand, and would further recommend Nikon products to anybody interested in purchasing new equipment. Furthermore, I am the type of person would will search high and low for the best deal. Abesofmaine.com had the best deal hands down. Good Luck and enjoy!

Comments about Nikon D80 10.2 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

As of now I've been using my D80 for travel pictures, when I have time I'm going to expand my knowledge. Whats great about the D80 is it was cheap enough to afford but is powerful enough to expand as I do. The 2 rotation selectors is great for changing f-stop and shutter speeds. The top display is great for outdoor shots since seeing the LCD display in the back is almost impossible in direct daylight. That said I wish the back LCD at least displayed the current settings like the D40 does. The D80 lacks liveview on the LCD but again it would only really be useful indoors in low light because of the glare. The shutter is also really loud, I don't mind it, just wanted to mention since others might.

First used the D70 at a Holiday Hollywood Movie Museum created by Sculptor Mark Klaus. Used it to take guest pictures in front of the sleigh from the film "The Grinch" w/ Jim Carey. HAD A BALL! For a photography enthusiast, we all had a great time! The portraits were fabulous - clear, bright & so simple to take the pictures! Used it again and again. The D80 is only better yet!

Comments about Nikon D80 10.2 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

This is my first DSLR and I spent a LOT of time reviewing several others before finally deciding upon the D80. I was very open to all brands and considered several, but in the end, to me the D80 had the best build quality, the best grip, a very user friendly layout with great controls, and most importantly, the best image quality for what I was willing to spend. I went to several local stores and held and shot with many cameras from entry to semi-pro. I took an SD card and my two year old son with me and snapped several pictures with each in different modes and brought them home to compare. To me and for what I will be using this camera for, which is family photos, vacations, and a camera that I can grow into as more of an enthusiast, the D80 was it across the board. Even though by today's standards it's considered an "older" model, I think it delivers superior results to several new models on the market. I highly recommend you put it on your short list and check it out.

Comments about Nikon D80 10.2 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

I was very disappointed that the Nikon D80 does not have option to place a date stamp on the pictures you take. This is very "behind the times" in regard to features most cameras offer today. I bought the camera because I wanted to take good/quality pictures of my kids.

Overall, the camera takes good pictures and the the 18-135mm lens is most versatile. Changing of lenses on SLR models may introduce dirt inside the camera which will affect picture quality, so not having to contastantly switch lenses is very convenient.

If I had to do it again, I think I would still consider a cannon.

Comments about Nikon D80 10.2 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera w/ Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

I ordered the D80 in January, and haven't put it down since. I needed a good budget SLR, and this one performs very well. The combo with the 18mm-135mm is a much better package that I suggest, already having a 55mm lens; I hardly ever switch, with the 135mm being much more versatile. I shoot high action racing photography, and while it does great catching the action, the only issue I have is with the performance in some bad lighting conditions. I don't think any camera can really catch the action during that time. This is a great deal, and is rugged enough to withstand constant dust being blown on it without any damage or problems. This is a great combo for the price!
