I upgraded from a SP-350 to take pictures of scenery and jewelry. I haven't had a chance to do scenery yet, but the jewelry looks much better.

I would not tell anyone to buy this camera. It is 10mp as long as you stay in auto and not set it up on fine settings. You set this camera to program mode and pick fine for file and noise controll and all you get for a megapixal is 3 and 3 is not good. I sent this camera back after having it for 15 minutes and calling olympus and asking question and they told me what i said was true and that they had other complaints. I said that they where falsly marketing this camera and they didnt argue with me.

This camera has really lived up to my expectations, I researched all that I could find on it for about 2 months before buying it and am very pleased with this product. I am somewhat biased towards the Olympus brand as I have never had anything go wrong with any of their products. The only draw back with the camera is that it takes a while to figure out all of the settings, they aren't really complex there is just a whole lot of options to sort through. The only way to get over this is just to sit down and tinker with it for a looooong time once you get it. Totally worth every penny. Only reason not a 5 star is because I do a lot of out door stuff that could easily damage a camera that isn't waterproof. If this came in a waterproof model or even water resistant that would be totally awesome.

This camera is easy to use. Auto feature takes great pics, but also have been having fun with the different settings. The zoom lens works great, I have already caught some wild life in the backyard. The shoot and select feature is useful for sporting events or anything fast paced and looking for that special shot. Great value for the money. I have already convinced two friends that they should buy this camera. We bought our first camera from Abe's when they were in Old Orchand Beach, ME. Still great [...]quality. Thanks Abe's!

Has good battery life.I have a slr 35mm and wanted a smaller digital camera.the 565 uz was one of the newest at the time. It has alot of features plus you can get additional filters an lenses,that I also bought along with filters.The software is good for now but I'am looking to get something a little more advanced.It's zoom power is really great then I added a 2x lens and double the zoom,takes great macro too.Thanks Abes of maine.

Read the setup information then set the manual aside and let the camera tell you how to use it. Its help functions tells you everything you need to know, at least at first. The scene mode is particualry amazing... just pick "snow" or "portrait" and it knows what to do. I feel a little marginalized as an old 35mm SLR user, but hopefully my OMG isn't too upset with me, since this has the same Olympus quality I've enjoyed for 20 years or so. And no switching lenses!

This is our fourth Olympus camera. We had matching 520's and have upgraded to 565 and 570. We upgraded to get flexibility in digital and wide angle photography. From the few pictures we have taken, these new cameras will do all we want in still photography. Very enjoyable! We visited the Grand Canyon in September (with one 510 and a 570 camera) The pictures were so awesome that we have dedicated a room in our house to display them. Everyone thinks the pictures were taken by professional photographers!

I've used only automatic settings so far but that works fine. Haven't yet waded through the long list of menu options. Combination of 20X optical zoom and image stabilization can really take some great closeups. Its a lot like an SLR but lighter and more convenient. The auto focus works very well.
This is the most modern portable camera I've seen so far.

I already had the SP- 510 which I loved. I upgraded to the SP-565 solely for the increased 20x zoom capabilities. I haven't used it much yet, but know that it will more than meet my expectations. I got some great pics with the SP-510 and anticipate getting many more with this model. I have several friends who want to buy the 510 from me. Love Olympus cameras, wouldn't buy any other brand in this price range.

This camera has taken some amazing pictures. My neighbors and bother also bought one at my recomendation and love them even thouogh they only casually use them. I also bought two for work which is very dark and dirty and it takes the best pictures of all the cameras that we have ever purchased at work. Just put into auto, point, press the shutter button helf way, focus and shoot your awesome picture!
