I've used this camera snorkeling in HI, for short video of a helicopter ride & general pictures that aren't to far. It's heavier than most cameras it's size due to the great shock and waterproof case. When taking video, you have to use an xD picture card and it does use up the battery quickly.

I bought this camera for my daughters High School graduation after researching many digital camers. She is very active in water sports, snowskiing etc. and wanted a camera to suit all her needs. The first time she used it was to take picturs at her graduation and her underwater pictures at her project graduation party. We were very impressed with the picture quality and video recording. I did purchase a 4gb memory card and a upgraded spare battery to go along with it. We have had no problems with water leakage and is as tough as it looks and feels. I recently purchased this camera for a trip that i was taking. I knew that i wanted something that would hold up under all kinds of conditions, most importantly i want something that i could take into the water with me. This camera fits the bill and excels at every task i have asked of it. I have only owned the unit for 3 weeks and i am already more than comfortable using it, it has a great set of shooting conditions built in so that all you have to do is select the one that best fit the scene. Over all this camera is a great choice for someone that wants a sturdy camera that will take the abuse and then turn around and ask for more. The 10.1 megapixel resolution of this camera takes great shots and all kinds of conditions you will be amazed at how well underwater photos turn out.

The only down side i have to this camera is the lag time between full resolution shots, it does take a couple of seconds to record a image to memory.

I would highly recommend this camera for anyone that is rough on their electronics, or anyone that does not want to worry about what they drag their camera through.

Bought the camera to use while traveling. Its great because I don't have to worry about it, its tough, and water proof. I took pictures with it at about 15 feet deep in salt water, and they all came out great. Only problem is its hard to use the LCD has a view finder under water in some conditions. Its just hard to see. I highly recommend this camera. My friend wants to break his camera so he can get one of these.

I finally settled on this camera after (literally) years of procrastination. For a long time I was looking at Optio's waterproof offerings, but when it came time to pull the proverbial trigger, I went with Olympus. I tend to get a bit obsessive when researching a major purchase and from what I gathered, this camera beats out the competition by a comfortable margin.
Thus far, I am not at all disappointed.
I use the camera primarily when I work as a fly-fishing guide. The rugged, waterproof construction means I don't have to white-knuckle it when I take it out of my vest. Plus, nothing gets a client excited like a shot of their prize catch underwater.
My only complaints thus far are:
1. Olympus locks out certain features unless you use their proprietary memory cards.
2. Accessing some options (like underwater mode) require a few more clicks through the menu than it should.
All in all, I am thoroughly happy with my purchase.

I love this camera because every time i go to the beach or go out hiking i don't have to worry about it getting messed up or broken. It's always reliable and unbreakable. The photo quality is amazing for a compact and you just cant beat all the features for the price!

Home builder sending pics to the outstate homeownersfor status report.Camera is a little complicated for a carpenter.Don't like having to change modes to email etc.Just want a simple rugged camera. Kodak stinks,[...], don't honor the warranty.

This is the best all around camera for anyone with an active lifestyle. For standard everyday use, pictures aren't great but good. The big plus is it's nice not to have to worry about dropping or getting your camera wet during activities.

I take this camera on hikes, bike rides and anywhere that the equipment takes abuse. Takes ok pictures for a point and shoot camera. My last one took lots of abuse and kept on going until I dropped it into a crevice and couldn't get it back.

Have used the camera in heavy rain storm - good operation. The controls work easily. Use at 5 mb or higher for best photos.
I would highly recommend this camera. Its a little heavier then most its size but its durable.

I was told by another company that the battery didn't last long, but it's fine. Figured they were just trying to sell more stuff. I just use the camera when I go out with friends/family, and the battery life lasts long enough for me. I just charge it every now and then. Try to use the auto function to snap photos. the function that looks like a camera can turn out blurry, but we just discovered that the auto thing takes awesome photos. had a camera before that my 2yr old played with and broke. Got this and I don't worry about breakage like that at all. what's better than shock proof and water resistance? I think this is worth the $. This seller was the 2nd cheapest $ I found online. (the seller with the cheapest $ sucked! They kept giving me the run around, and I finally had them cancel my order after 1 month of not receiving it. so glad I got it here. will continue to do business through abe's) haven't really tested out the water resistance yet, but will be going to costa rica in jan. that'll be it's true test. Also, I love the color.

I got it for use in places where I wouldn't want to take my slr like beach and snorkeling works great for that purpose. Color is excellent

Camera is not water proof. I kept in the pocket of my swimming trunks, so water dept was 2 feet max at the time. It got condensation and consequently failed. It is rated for 30 ft depth for extended period of time, definitely no way under that kind of water pressure. Also, face recognition settings are not kept when switching between the modes, so you have to go to the menu and set it up every time.
