This camera is one of the best investments i've made. The fact that the software and manual are on the camera's internal memory, instead of on a disk, that in my house would be lost in record time. After a year or two if i needed the disks they would be gone for sure. The software though is not compatible with my mac, but the iphoto and imovie that comes on the mac is more then sufficient, add adobe photo and my bamboo drawing tab i can manipulate and make professional pics, docs and movies with no difficulty as this camera is plug and play with mac as well. The Flash is really good and can be used as a fill flash. It is not like my sony or my hp cameras that tend to wash out the subjects especially in portrait or macro mode. This Camera is small and stylish not at all like the older waterproof cameras which i was embarrassed to own. (Big and Yellow and with Clear plastic!
The Cameras quality is great with resolution that enables great movies and super stills, The crystal clear pics and movies owe a lot to superior stabilization qualities.
I have tested the water proof qualities and the shatterproof qualities and both live up to expectations and actually surpass them.
I use a neck strap instead of the wrist one that came with it as its easier to swim and tote, that way. The 16g SD card i use gives me over 4400 pics or 4 hours of movies. I have 2 batteries and i find that when i'm out, i use both the movie and still option, but this seems to use a lot of battery, i have two batteries so i can continue for hours.
I always recommend this camera to friends, family, and even strangers when ever possible and for the money it is defiantly a great deal.

Works great underwater and takes good video. The camera has slow photo processing however, the delay between picture taking feels like forever - this is my major drawback. The camera was wonderful for our snorkeling trip however it doesn't take the greatest point and shoot pictures - the quality was subpar on most photos when reviewing at home on my computer. Battery life seemed short, I bought a couple cheap extra batteries on the net. Overall I would recommend if you need an underwater digital camera.

I bought this camera to supplement my D80, When I first turn it on I wait and wait and wait, then I am prompted to hook it up to a computer. Yes it is small and has a large view finder, however, don't plan on it being a quick-draw camera with rapid firing shots. It does take rather nice photos, rugged, waterproof and so on, just a little to slow for me. A great backup camera to supplement a DSLR.

Three days after I received it, I had my first ever motorcycle crash. I slid 130 feet with the Olympus ST8010 on my right waist band. I then used it to take pictures of the accident scene. Good clear pics. It just takes a while to learn how to use it properly.

accelerometer for gloves/snow/water etc

Cons:
slow write to sd media even sdhc class 6 compared to previous olympus 1035sw super fast write with xd media
menu is a cross bar like ps3 that request multiple pushes versus fast access to features
no shutter speed control

Summary:
Best destruction proof camera you can but that will go anywhere and do anything and still keep taking pictures and video
