This is my walk-about camera. It easily fits in my pocket, with a bulge about the same size as an iPhone. I bought this camera because of the Leica wide-angle lens. The 25mm is able to capture a lot more than your typical compact camera with a wide angle of 30-35mm. I am fairly pleased with the results that I have gotten so far. The one major downside that I have noticed is that there is an extra beat between the press of the button and when the picture is taken in low-light situations. I found myself having to tell people to hold their poses an extra second when using the flash as many of the initial photos I took turned out blurry when the subjects moved after the first flash, believing the picture to have been taken.
While I may grip about it, this issue is not a deal breaker for this camera. It is still superior, in my mind, to the canon/sony/etc... compact cameras out there.
You can shoot HD (720p) video with this camera, however, an 8GB card only gives you 11 minutes of video. I had never shot HD video and didn't buy this camera to do so, but if I had, I would be pretty disappointed to discover how large those files actually are. This, of course, is not the fault of Panasonic; that is just how large the videos are. However, given that most websites tout this camera ability to shoot in 720p, any potential buyer should understand the limitations that accompany that format.
All in all, a good camera. Suits my needs and looks very similar to the Leica model, with which it shares most of its engineering, for half the price. I'd buy this camera again.

Very pocketable. Zoom range one of the best. HD video quite good. I use 6mp most of the time to reduce file size.

Smallest compact I can find that records video in real HD at 720P with 30fps AND has a quick enough shutter to snap shots of my dogs before the red-eye flash makes her blink.
