Crisp pictures, good flash, big zoom. Battery life is very good. Lag time isn't great, about similar to my old Powershot A430. The movie mode isn't HD like the TZ5, but it's fine and doesn't produce ridiculous filesizes. The only minor cons are that the mode selector is too easy to accidentally jog, and the transfer software doesn't allow for datestamped filenames. Overall I'm very pleased compared to the A430.

I was skeptical when I purchased this camera because it is my first Panasonic, but it has far exceeded my expectations. Using this camera, I took shots that a professional admitted were better than those from his digital SLR. Then 10x optical zoom is amazing for anything of this size, and the optical image stabilizer allows you to use full zoom without needing a tripod. I purchased this to replace a Sony camera, which was a 3.8 MP, 4x zoom camera that cost 3 times the price of this one. Now that I have this Panasonic, I wonder how I ever considered the Sony to be high quality. The DMC-TZ4 is smaller and better in almost every way. The only thing that I miss from the Sony that this camera does not have is a thick lens cover. Although the Panasonic has one (which opens automatically - the Sony's didn't) it is quite thin and looks like it would break if it brushed against a solid object while in a backpack or suitcase. For that reason, make sure you get a case rot this camera to protect the lens and the screen. Unless you want to spend hundreds more for a digital SLR, I would not recommend getting any camera other than this one (or its big brother, the DMC-TZ5). It is an EXCELLENT buy!

I love this camera. The pictures come out great, it's really easy to use and has lots of different settings. Pictures in snow come out really great as well. Haven't found anything about it i don't like yet. If i do i'll post it.

Well, I just got the camera and it seems like it has a ton of very handy features! My photo enthusiast friends were VERY impressed by the Lecia 28-280mm lens, which makes the camera ideal for nice, wide, landscape shots or respectable close-ups. I am a pretty inexperienced photographer, with creative aspirations, but little time to learn, so needless to say I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment. So far, I am very satisfied.There is a big to do over noisy, low-light/high ISO pictures. Well...yeah, their not amazing, especially when cropped, but this isn't a DSLR! It's at least as good as any other enthusiast compact. The TZ4 is a little higher in noise with a little less softening, as opposed to a Canon SX110, which would be the opposite...personal preference I guess. Bottom line on this issue is it is absolutely fine for casual low-light/High ISO shots, but don't expect them to be 8x10 print worthy![...]

This is an addition to my digital SLR. I have only had it a couple of weeks, and have been using for fast photos of kids, friends, even driving by views in the car, and using its auto intelligent mode...and it IS intelligent. my first camera with film capacity, is fun for the kids and I

I can't always be in a photographer's space (two kids, busy life), but I like quality color and range and focus, and this camera can provide those with ease.

I am only a casual photographer and I would have hoped the manual would explain better "how-to." I truly could not figure out some of the functions like how to operate the video. Other point and shoot aspects were easy to figure out though. All in all, a beautiful camera.

My biggest complaint is blurry flash pictures w/automatic control. Isn't this where flash is supposed to freeze action? It seems like under auto contol, the camera combines flash with long exposure times resulting in blurred action shots. Sometimes you don't notice this until you get the pictures transferred to your PC and can see blowups. I believe the answer is to take it off of auto control and put it on normal when using the flash - haven't tested this exhaustively, but it seems to work with several tries under my belt. I like the size, feel, and heft of the camera - it fits in my shirt pocket fine. Found a camera case at [...] for under $10. It will hold the camera, charger, extra battery and extra SD card (although tightly). I ended up buying another for my daughter for Christmas and talking a friend into buying one. Others are cheaper but don't have 28mm wideangle and 10x zoom. In fact the price has fallen [$] since I bought my first one.

Zoom is great, macro is better than expected, construction = solid. Bracketing makes up for the first shot lag. Love the Leica glass.

Took my new camera to Ireland and it took great pictures. Red eye reduction worked great and pictures taken in low light came out fine with the flash. Took almost 400 pictures and the
battery still had some life left in it before I had to recharge it. This is a great camera and I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. This is my 4th digital cameras and it is by far the best for all kinds of picture taking.

As a growing family, I and my wife and 8-year old granddaughter use the camera at least weekly. At my granddaughter's soccer games, all family gatherings, taking photos of her new baby brother and overall just exploring with photography. To get a childs point of view of what is interesting to photograph. The ease of use is great and the quality is fantastic. A great all around camera for the whole family.

I use this camera for everything and take it everywhere. This is the second DMC-TZ series camera I've had; previously I had the TZ1, but i made the mistake of taking it for a bath in the Caribbean. The money maker is the 10x Optical zoom, combine that with the wide angle lens, and it captures a vast amount of picture. The two "Scene" buttons on top become "Favorite" buttons for different types of pictures (ie: night scenery, self portrait, high-speed burst, etc). And the battery life is incredible; it will last weeks in standby, it easily lasts an entire day with heavy shooting, and it recharges fully within 2 hours. It's lightweight and small, considering the 10x optical zoom, and I've received tons of compliments, both on it's appearance and pictures. One word, Amazing.

Love this camera. Teh zoom is terrific and the picture incredibly sharp. Took photos on a trip to alaska that people are amazed at and I am a "point and shoot" casual photographer.
The only cons:
While taking video it has a hard time deciding what to focus on.
Some of the buttons are too sensitive and settings can easily be accidently changed.

I use this camera for everyday photos of family, scenery, animals.. whatever.... but when I say everyday, I really mean it. I average over 300 photos per month. I was previously using an older version of this camera and liked it. That is why I chose this camera. It is very simple to operate, there are a multitude of settings to choose from and can quickly and easily be accessed. The quality of the pictures is great. I would have to say that my favorite feature of this camera is the image stabilizer. I would have not purchased this camera if it wasn't available. I would highly suggest that you purchase an extra battery. I like the lithium battery, but I would hate to be caught in a situation where I didn't have my extra charged battery with me.

I the TZ4 use it for action shots, low light parties, landscape photography, and all of the different pre-set settings. The resolution is great, the colors are crisp, the hand stabilizer is great, and the scene features work great. Very long battery life and quick recharge. There is not anything significantly that isn't great, I have no complaints. For a small camera it is a little heavy and the low light could be a little better.

This has become the primary camera for all manner of photograpy from baby pictures to scenery on trips. There is enough space on the larger capacity memory card to do a two week vacation and not run out of space.

Great camera in all light settings, there were many times where I didn't have to use the flash that I would otherwise. Auto settings are great for most situations, it did me proud during my month long trip to East Asia. Definitely worth the extra heft over a subcompact!

Hi-speed burst setting captures great high shutter speed shots. Great for advanced photographers looking for a compact camera as well as casual photographers looking for a simple use, yet high quality camera. I love the 10X optical zoom!!! It's a bit heavy, but what do you expect when so much has to be packed into such a small package. Have had mine since April 2008 and have taken to the beach, skiing, on the Mississippi River, sporting events, parties, camping, etc. and have had nothing but great pictures. The only thing I dislike is the software that came with it, which is not very user friendly.
