The DMC-ZS5 replaces my DMC-ZS3 which I gave to my son who needed to replace his camera. The first Panasonic camera which I bought 4 years ago has been given to another family member. I have also bought several Panasonic cameras to give as gifts as well as recommending them to friends who have bought them. I have owned several other brands of digital cameras previously. When the last "other brand" had problems, I did extensive research to find the best camera for my use and am an avid fan now of the Panasonic....great quality and easy to use.

Two drawbacks: not great performance indoors. Even if you adjust AWB, still image quality needs to be improved.
2 - Flash is odd in a way if you make a little step too close - everything is blown out, a little step too far - the flash is not strong enough

I bought this camera for my wife for her birthday and she took it on our recent trip to Seattle and Vancouver. She loved it and I was jealous because it outperformed my digital SLR camera. Shhots great pics and video.

The pictures I have taken with this camera have been great - very pleased with the quality - I have read negative things about digital cameras in low light but I cannot confirm as I have taken very few indoors - The scene modes have been very helpful in taking better photos particularly the sunrise and sunset modes - The burst mode is great for catching action - I did not have much success so far with the fireworks mode, perhaps next year - In the auto intelligent setting the happy setting is great for vivid colorful photos - The macro setting is also very good - Not crazy about the software included to edit photos, perhaps I will get better with it as time progresses - The biggest beef I have with the camera is that it does not have much meat :) on it to hold, I am very conscious of how easy it is to drop and try to remember to use the wrist strap - I have owned the ZS5 for 3 weeks and am anticipating taking it to the badlands were I can really put it thru the paces - So far so good

I don't know much about photography. I only want a camera that I can turn on and take good pictures without having to worry about the settings. I'm very happy about this camera.

The continuous shoot works well to capture a good picture of my toddler who won't hold still.

This camera is light weight and the zoom lens retracts completely into the camera making it easy to pack away in my shirt or pants pocket. I am looking forward to taking some great 12 meg photos on my vacation and blowing them up to 16 x 20. Last night I hooked the camera up to my High Def Television and set the camera to play the photos on the card. The pictures were fantastic and the camera even furnished the background music! Another feature I like is the ability to take black and white photos.

This camera is very user-friendly and takes great pics. I used it for the first time at my daughter's wedding in Mexico earlier this month. I hadn't had much time to read all the instructions but was able to figure it out quite quickly. The images were nice except for a few that the sun was refecting on the subject
and I attribute that to operator error.
