This camera is wonderful. It has a great zoom and the image quality can't be beat. This is the best point and shoot that I have ever owned or used. This camera is worth every penny. The only area that I find this camera doesn't excel in is low light shots but this isn't a DSLR and I wasn't expecting it to be. One nice surprise is how well it takes macro photos. They are outstanding for a point and shoot. You will not be disappointed with this camera.

Best indoor low light photos are taken with forced flash turned off. Best bright light photos with subjects n the foreground taken with forced flash. Loved the picture quality and the fantastic zoom. GPS wouldn't register in Italy of all places! I got it based on an experience with another user in Austria and Switzerland so assumed it would work in Italy. I met several other owners that were experiencing the same problem. Car GPS works there, why not the camera?? Love the camera but be sure to always have the wrist strap securely about your wrist as it slips out of your hand! Love the Ia feature!!

The camera is easy to use right out of the box. With a little time and experimentation, you can easily learn the extra functions of the camera. The compact size is not a problem with the large LCD and sharp images. Even my kids (under 10 years old) are able to operate the camera with ease. It is a great camera for the casual user looking for a point and shoot.

Love the camera so far. Great travel camera for use outdoors, both pictures and video. Limited on low light pictures and indoor flash (like all point and shoots), but does a good job with low light video. I've used the zoom a lot on sports and the stablization and ability to keep in focus following the action is better than most. Optical zoom during video was essential for me, I have a TX1 that does it also, but the viewer was smaller and a few less megapixals.

After searching high and low for a high mega-pixel camera with great zoom and quick response I came across the ZS7 and immediately fell in love. The intelligent mode also made for some excellent pictures regardless the situation. Overall a fantastic camera at a great price!

Recently purchased, but so far it seems to be a good, much more portable, replacement for my digital SLR in many situations. I particularly like the excellent range of "scene" settings that enhance photos that would be problematic with my old point-and-shoot. And of course the long telephoto is great, as is the face detection feature.

I mostly use my Panasonic Lumix ZS7 for outdoor rock climbing shots. It fits perfectly in my day pack and so quick and easy to use. The quality of the 12X zoom is great. The quality of the "digital zoom" is below average. Also, the GPS is over-rated but it's not the reason why I bought it in the 1st place.

The DMC-ZS7 packs many excellent features into a small size! You can do a lot with this pocket sized wonder. Vivid pics/vids - awesome lense, large zoom range, easy to navigate menus, great LCD, quick card writes/reads, and did I mention compact.

If there is anything questionable, it might be durability. After a hard 3 weeks across Wash/Oregon, camera had a unrecoverable "System Error" while I hiked Mt Rainer. Panasonic replaced DMC-ZS7 with an entirely new DMC-ZS7, no questions - THANK YOU Pana! I don;t expect to put this unit through the same experiences anytime soon, so expect it to last.

I expect many great pics & vids over many years of use. Keep up the great Engineering Pana!

Pics are phenomenal even for a compact case that slips in your pocket! The 14x optical zoom and 16:9 format allow great composure flexiblility! Has plenty of scene-modes, although finding & choosing the right one can take time/getting-used-to.

However, had an unrecoverable "system error" on third week of vacation; missed many pics (#&^$); sent to Panasonic for repair. No verdict yet...

I love the compactness and quality of this camera. I used to lug around a large SLR w/multiple lenses, but have found that this little "Mighty Mouse" can do great things without al the weight and fuss of a larger camera outfit.

I bought this camera because I wanted a convenient point and shoot but I didn't want to sacrifice image quality. I heard about the top quality Leica lens that this camera features and that was one the main selling points for me. I was not dissapointed. The quality of the pictures that this lens takes is top quality. Sharp pictures at both ends of the zoom range. Also, another thing that is great about this camera is that it can grow with you as you grow in your learning of photography. If you are just an enthusiast you can just use it as a regular point a shoot, very easy to use. If you are more in the intermediate to advanced shooter then you can customize and modified the camera's settings to you liking and convenience in order for you to take that shot that you are after. I have used the video setting and it seems reasonable, I haven't played with it long as that was not my intention for buying this camera. However, it is a great convenience to have video also available at your command.
All in all, this is an excellent purchase and a good choice if you are looking for a better-than-average camera that can provide you with pictures that will take your breath away.

I take TONS of photos of my family. I loved my old similar Lumix and this one is even better. The "PROS" are obvious in the description. It's full of awesomeness in a pocket sized package. The "CONS" would be that I seem to have a bit of difficulty getting shots off quickly sometimes. I try to shoot and it doesn't always respond how I expect. It focuses but doesn't always take on the first try. I don't know if it's my camera or normal for the model. It's taking a little getting used to. The GPS is cool but does have a noticible effect on the battery. Still fine, but needs charging after sitting for days and needs to be thought of in case you're in a grab-and-go situation.Overall I am happy with my choice of cameras.As for the purchase process, I'm happy with the price I got from this site [...]

Use ZS7 in several trips now, the 12X ultra zoom and 24mm wide angle are very useful to capture wildlife or landscape scenes. however, the intellegent iA mode did mistakes, many photos took in glacier were totally white out; guess I need more manual study and practises.
Overall, very satisfied with the output except the above mentioned occassion.

size and zoom range are definitaly a plus, it take a long time to synchronize GPS, even when it's bee on in the camera off mode. Risk is you get wrong location information for your pictures if you are not patient and wait for GPS update
I'll be taking this camera for a 500 mile hike with the intention of uploaden/updating my location/progress every day. So, lets see how this works out. Many different modes, both a plus and a minus. It takes time to scroll through. Other than that, I like this camera!

I bought this camera a few months ago to replace my older trusted Lumix TZ5. This camera amazingly allows a lot of control. It's got shutter speed priority, aperture priority and program mode all you usually found only on SLR. I used to bring my heavy SLR everywhere, now I can go light whenever necessary. The video is great too, I put my video camera on Craiglist....

I'm very happy with this camera. I love the long zoom which enables me to get shots not otherwise possible. The outdoor scenery shots are great. It has a tendency to overexpose the bright areas so I recommend using the exposure compensation on very bright days because it's much easier to modify a picture afterwards to lighten shadows than it is to fix blown highlights. Indoors in low light it doesn't do a great job. Note: this is not a digital SLR. It's not going to give the quality or flexibility of an SLR. But for a pocket sized point and shoot, it's an excellent choice.

This is a great travel camera with all the features you'll need to capture memories of you journey. The GPS, large zoom, picture quality,movie mode, large screen, & easy to use features in a very attractive package (red looks great)makes this a good buy. Two things that would make this the perfect travel camera are: include panoramic picture option like Sony and weather/drop proofing technology.

Used the camera on a 4 day vacation with excellent results. Used AE and fireworks scene modes, both to excellent results. Color reproduction seems good. GPS worked. Menus that vary with modes take some getting used to. Haven't printed yet. Overall still very satisfied.

I bought this camera for the 12x zoom and the 720p video. Moving from 4x to a 12x zoom really let's me get shots that I couldn't before, especially during videos. The AVCHD is great. More detail, smooth fps, and plays without issue on Win 7.

The camera is a bit larger than I'm used to. Still pocketable though. The menu navigation is logical but unintuitive to me. I'm always slowing down and rethinking which buttons to press to get where I want to go.

The GPS labeling is poor. At home, it displays the city next door. I see no way to set a home location. At the largest lake in my state, it only displays the state name. The nearest city, lake name, or county name would have been more informative.

Since the camera delivers on the abilities I bought it for, it's a keeper.

I have only used the automatic mode so far but it has worked great for me. Image stabilization is impressive. At one point I was driving in a vehicle and would litterally just hold the camera up and click with no preperation, focus or even aiming and the pictures came out great with no blur. Just buy a back up battery as it doesn't take AA if you run out.

Impressive GPS accuracy. Simply amazing optical zoom. This is the best point and shoot camera I have owned. This was purchased to replace having to take my DSLR on business trips, and it exceeded my expectations. Would be nice if it was a little thinner, but with the optical zoom, the bulk is required.

I am new to the camera and its many features. After research to pick a camera that best met my needs [ease of use, decent size zoom & macro], the LUMIX seemed to fit the bill. Its extended zoom and wide angle have been very user friendly. The video features provided an unexpected extra benefit, particularly its ability to film a lengthy video. When researching camera choices, some descriptions suggested it might be difficult to find a camera case big enough to fit the camera. That turned out to be a non-issue. We found a case that holds the camera, along with an extra battery case I'm still getting used to its macro feature, particularly trying to zero in on close-ups of flowers. I have successfully been using it to take pictures of close-ups of foods that are being added to an on-line cookbook that I'm developing. The icon that shows up on the camera to help you zero in on such close-ups is a nice feature for the amateur photographer. The operations manual is pretty descriptive in explaining features and "how to's"; I have not yet tested the manual aiming and shooting features, happily using and being satisfied with the automatic focusing features. I had been a bit concerned whether I would be able to import pictures into both my PC and my MAC. While I have been able to import pictures into both computers, the software that comes with the camera does not load and work on my MAC. As I have other software on my MAC that works with my pictures, including importing pictures from this camera, that hasn't really mattered, but it is something that I had not anticipated.

The best of the small ultra zoom cameras.. good image quality.. HD video.. fast.. and the smallest of the Panasonic ultra zooms so far.. but the "Wow" factor is the the zoom.. with the smart function.. and image stabilization. It reaches way out there and gets a great photograph everytime. I have owned several small ultra-zooms and this one runs away from the rest!

Very impressed with the quality of the pictures and the zoom capability. I have also used the camera in low light conditions and had no problems with the picture quality. I have used the video indoors and the sound and picture quality is very good. However I have yet to try it in an outdoor environment. I also purchased a higher quality canon battery and it lasts all day. Overall the camera is easy to operate and I have no problems referring this little gem to a friend.

This is a great small camera that you can take everywhere, with a good zoom for a small lens. It will not substitute for a full size camera (like the Nikon D200) when you want really high quality telephoto images. The image quality is excellent for a small camera but not on the same level as with a 12 MP larger SLR digital camera.

I wanted a good camera with GPS functionality. I also did NOT want a camera that required a proprietary battery specific to a particular model.

Finding a spare battery has been a nightmare that far exceeds the benefit of GPS functionality.

Not just any battery works, and this model is so new that most vendors are not clued into this and will unknowingly sell you an incompatible battery.

Panasonic may think they are helping me, but they are not.

Get another good camera that accepts regular batteries.
