This is a great camera. Definitely an upgrade from my last DSLR. The battery seems to last awhile, although I haven't gone on a all day picture taking marathon yet. I love the image quality, don't have to do much for final editing.

Comments about Pentax K20D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I recently bought the Pentax K20d. I had a previous Pentax set up from the good old days of film. Was very pleased to learn that I could still use my old lenses (4 pentax lenses worth about [$] of very good quality) with the new camera body. Additionally I decided to get a new lens to add to my bevy, and not one of the "throw away" lenses that comes stock with the camera (though I have to say, I was pretty impressed with Pentax's 16mm-45mm f4 option). But instead, I did the right thing. I purchased the camera body only and purchased separately the Pentax 16mm-50mm f2.8 lens. This is the way to go I tell you, it's a few extra bucks to purchase this lens but well worth the money (okay maybe a bit more than a few extra bucks but compared to the price of a Nikon D90 with a throw away lens, this was a much better deal). Between this lens, my old 100mm f2.8 and my 70mm-200mm f4-5.6, there is no looking back. Just as a lark, I tried out my old 50mm non-auto focusing lens from my Pentax ME Super, it worked great. My recommendation, forget the Canon, forget the Nikon, get the Pentax and get the right lens, you won't regret it.

great product.Didnt use a lot yet, but so far i like it.Feels like u holding a real stuff, not a toy, like sony @, or nikon d5000.Maybe focus too slow, but it depends on lens also, and im not using expensive one.

Tried to take up photography in the 35mm days. Film and developing: Ouch - expensive! Now with the K20D, I'm back in the game and loving it. I'll grow with this camera, secure in the knowledge that with the right lens combo, I can take it out kayaking on the lake and not fear the splashes. Love the fact that I can use ALL Pentax lenses.

drowned K-10 requires upgrade to K-20

Comments about Pentax K20D SLR Digital Camera Body:

A submerged K-10 on a recent trip required an up grade to the K-20. I find it very similar yet there a a few subtleties that make me happy. It seems to focus faster and the higher resolution makes cropping a photo a pleasure. An upgrade of lens from the Tamrom 18-200mm to the Pentax 18-250mm might have something to do with it also. my pictures a sharper with better color saturation.

Comments about Pentax K20D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I am a missionary in Honduras. I spend most of my time in the dust or rain. This camera gave me the weathersealed body, CMOS chip, and 14.6 megapixels on a missionaries budget. The picture quality may not be as perfect as a Nikon D300 with a high quality Nikor lens but as a average person, I can't see the difference. If I was selling my photos to make a living, that would be different. The DA* lenses work just fine.

With Pentax's Mount Adapter B, you can use any old lens with the M42 thread! According to wikipedia: "It was first used in Zeiss' Contax S of 1949...
Oh, the possibilities!

Their RAW converter can use a huge upgrade, so I shoot DNG (Adobe's RAW format), for my CS2 suite. Fortunately, CS3 and 4 have no problems with the PEF format.

I don't mind the shutter sound, but it might be loud for certain places or religious ceremonies.

Comments about Pentax K20D SLR Digital Camera Body:

I was amazed at the resolution of a mountain lake taken from across the lake. Distance about 1/4 mile. As I zoomed in on the picture I noticed a person standing on the lake shore. As I continue to zoom I could tell gender and that they were also taking pictures. Very Impressive!
