Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
built in flash cover when open can be mistaken for the eye view finder when in low light.
Controls are easy to manuever around through.
The instruction book is the best and easiest to follow the instruction that I have yet seen in an
electronic product. This is my fifth Pentak
camera and also the best. wonderful pictures.

Petty cool. Great Price.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
First off I have been using Canon for a few years and when I always have to open the menu to shot Raw or to operate the EX Bracketing then when I turn it off it is reset everything again. The K20 is so nice and fast with just pushing the button outside. I can set bracketing in a second also.
The built in IS is is great as I can use non-IS lenses and still have great images.
Straight out of the box, install a lens and sit down with the manual for a few practice shots. Learning the bracketing setup is a little hard at first but after that it is really sweet!
The size of the camera and weight are perfect to me as I like a heavier unit anyway. Coupled with Sigma lenses it is a perfect balance. Last but not least the weather seal is a great idea for where I live.

Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
I hope to learn enough to make photographs good enough to publish. This camera does all of the things I have seen done by the "big boys" without all of the hype. I doesn't shout it's virtues, it simply does the job superbly. I could not be more pleased.

Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
I moved up from a Pentax K100D. I love the additional control features. While it doesn't have as fast a shutter speed as some it is perfectly adequate for me. I think that would only be an issue for professional sports photography.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
The camera was easy to use right out of the box and I've been able to produce some great shots before even reading the manual. Images are sharp, camera construction is good and the added bonus is that all of my old lens fit and work. Excellent camera for the photo enthusiast/semi pro.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
image quality is great.
con: autofocus in low light is a little slow.
menus are good but can be a little confusing. manual is helpful.
only had it 2 weeks so still learning the ins and outs but photo quality is very good.
does tend to under expose on default settings, easily adjusted for though.
For the price it is a great camera.

Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
Ergonomically, Its a great camera. All the buttons are where they should be. Pentax been making cameras for a long time. But, unfortunately, where the good stuff ends. ISO control is terrible even at a low ISO 200!. At 400 is already "blotchy" in appearence. My old Nikon D50 at only 6mg does a much better job at controlling focus, high ISO and basic performance. I tried Pentax, but returned the camera going for the Nikon D90 instead.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
The camera is exactly as described-very solidly built with excellent overall quality. I especially appreciate the all-around weather seals.
The auto mode produces sharp, well exposed, snapshots in most lighting. Other settings allow the user extensive control over "everything".
My only cautionary note is that the supplied kit lens is rather slow requiring increased sensitivity in poorer lighting. The slower lens also limits control over depth-of-field to separate subject from background.
Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase and my next purchase will be a faster lens.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
The K20D easily meets my high expectations. I wanted a reasonably-priced DSLR that feels like a high-end film SLR, but allows you to fine-tune the settings easily. All the reviews I read indicated that the K20D would satisfy these criteria. I agree 100%.
This camera would work for an experienced enthusiast or a serious learner. Both user types can easily experiment to find the settings and operating modes that suit them best, and the default settings are actually a good start. I discovered that I could use the dials and buttons even with gloves on, while keeping the viewfinder at my eye. The large body is an advantage in this regard, but the size and weight might be too much for a small person.
The images show impressive color, contrast, and sharpness on a large monitor--I haven't made large (16X20) prints yet but I'm sure they'll be fine.
My only reservation concerns the kit lens: The experienced enthusiast may want to skip the kit lens and either use their favorite Pentax-mount lenses, or start with a lens like the Pentax DA 16-45.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
A excellent dSLR. Great IQ. It's good at ISO 800, not too bad at ISO 1600, unacceptable at ISO3200.
Focusing is slow, but faster than I expected.
It works very well with my old M-mount lens.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
I have used this camera for nature, landscape, lowlight and night photography, so far. The images have come out crisp and clear. And since it's digital I get to play and experiment with shots over and over again with no worry about additional expense. And since it is backwards compatible, I can use all of my old pentax lenses. The only problem I encountered was that I needed to adjust a menu item so the camera could use old lenses, which took me twenty minutes of experimenting to remedy. It was clearly marked inthe manual but I was too excited to fully read the manual before shooting.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
Best price/performance. I looked at the Nikon D90 and the Canon 50D. The weather sealing and image stabelization on the Pentax sold me.

Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
Construction appears to be solid, it is well sealed to keep out moisture and dust. One of the deciding factors for my selection of this camera over others was the ability to use the lenses from my Pentax film camera. I have two complaints regarding the flash on this camera. First the flash does not pop up automatically. My Pentax film camera will pop up and discharge the flash if needed when auto flash mode is selected. It would have been nice to see this feature used on this camera. To use the flash you must press a button to manually pop up the flash, then it will discharge when needed if auto flash is selected. The second issue with the flash is that sometimes it over flashes when shooting in Green Mode (Full Auto) and causes the image to wash out. I just need to learn what settings work best under different conditions. I have only had this camera since Christmas so I am still learning to use it, but overall I have been satisfied.
Comments about Pentax K20D Digital SLR Camera w/ 18-55mm II Lens:
I do Fine Art shooting and sell at art fairs and on the NY city streets. I need top notch prints and that starts with the camera. The K20D fits that need quite well. Image color and sharpness are outstanding and file size is no problem. My only problem is I wish there were a 12mp setting. The 20D goes from 10 to 14mp's and no in between. This is only a minor flaw, otherwise I am extremely happy with this DSLR.
