I purchased this camera to use for a recent vacation in the Caribbean. The Caribbean is known for its incredible blue waters - but these colors did not transfer well to the photos. I guess I was expecting more - which maybe I shouldn't have considering the low price.
For the price I am satisfied with the purchase. It is easy to set-up and use - even a novice like me found it easy to migrate through the menus.

This camera is a lot of fun to use underwater and in wet conditions. I took it on a family trip to Hawaii and its underwater performance was great, through snorkeling, waterfalls, rope swings... All in the pocket of the swim trunks. The pics are sometimes great and sometimes not well-exposed -- i haven't figured out why yet. It seems to focus and choose light levels better in video -- go figure. On advantage: the camera can extract stills from its videos.

The primary purpose that I chose this camera was that it was waterproof/dustproof, lightweight, small/compact in size, and no moving parts. The quality of the 7.1 MP is not that great - I'd say it's more equivalent to a 3.2 MP. The shutter lag speed is slow and often times the auto flash has a hard time distinguishing between adequate and low light conditions. I mostly use this camera for on-the-job field related tasks and for my fly-fishing excursions. I'm also not a fan of the rechargeable battery, so plan on getting an extra battery since the flash consumes a lot of energy. All in all, I'm fairly happy with the Optio W30 for what I use it for (work and recreational water activates).

I use this camera for family, traveling, event, and outdoor photos. Clear bright photos. Quick shutter and loading speed. Good underwater photos. Great screen size. Would buy this camera again.

I use the camera for whitewater kayaking, and it is just great. The only qualms I have are that it would be nice if there were a lens cover to keep out the occasional water drops and fog (although fog might be a problem with such a cover). I usually keep the camera in a ziplock that keeps the lens free of water. The other minor problem is that it takes a couple seconds to turn on and to snap a pict - I need faster time that that many times. Howver, overall, the camera is probably the best choice for high quality picts and short video clips of outdoor water sports (and everything else).

An avid fly fisherman, this camera is perfect. Its compact but easy to use and it's waterproof should you float your hat--if you go down below 10 feet, you have other things to worry about! Great pictures in all light conditions including night time.
