I love this camera. We take a lot of pictures in our family, in all different settings. This camera has a lot of auto-features and features you can set yourself. The image quality is AMAZING!!! Sometimes I feel like I can "touch" the picture. My only complaint: Why can't their be a hard-copy of the manual? To sit and read 162 pages on a computer screen is crazy annoying, and there is no such thing as just quickly looking up how to do something. I'm sure a lot of products have this now - and don't get me wrong, I'm all for saving the trees - but sometimes it's really important to have the instructions handy. Because of that reason alone, I'm not sure I would suggest this camera to someone inexperienced in electronics (like my parents, grandparents...) because they have to use a computer to figure out how to use the camera...

It is arguably the most optimum camera for the casual photographer. Afford ably priced too. Often times we buy complex cameras loaded with features that are seldom used. Not this Canon SD1200 IS. Easy of usage is important next to the picture quality, and on the Canon you get both. I especially like the feature of face detection. Another great feature that gets ignored is the available Viewfinder - packing one on a small camera is good design. The camera comes in vibrant colors; I chose orange and it is a beauty.If there is one thing I would like improved on the camera it is the lid that covers the AV/Out port: It is some kind of plastic and hinges to the camera body. It can get inconvenient to stick the cable in the camera. If the hinge were longer, the lid would not interfere with the cable insertion. Still not a deal-breaker as even if the hinge were to break the camera will function 100% albeit look a little less aesthetic.I highly recommend this and will buy Canon again.[...]

This is a great basic camera that you can take anywhere. Like a cupcake, it's just enough to fill your appetite but won't overwhelme you with too many layers and forsting(camera functions). Though, it is a piece of cake to use.
