I am very impressed with this camera! I have used many digital cameras but this is my actual first to own, and it is even better than I expected. It is now discontinued, so if you want a point-and-shoot, get this one if you still can! I am still experimenting with it. So far I use it for taking photos of friends, my roommate's puppies, random indoor and outdoor shots, and have also taken videos, both indoors and outdoors. The photo and video have crisp clarity and I love the macro/zoom options. Light auto-adjustments and face finder are good. It is small. What others say, is true- it's about the size of a credit card, so I use the wrist strap if I'm not over carpeted floor. The body includes metal and plastic and has a very sturdy feel. Small, yes, but that is my only criticism, and is easily outweighed by its awesome quality and functions. It comes with a battery and charger. The battery life is fine, not great, but not bad! I would recommend keeping an extra for emergencies.

I have been using canon cameras from last 15 years with no complain. Canon delivers great quality pictures with compact size at a reasonable price, easy to handle, great shape, light weight, constant product improvement, long life time use. Specially the powershot series is awesome.
As a Photo enthusiastic i like to recommended the following additional features in this camera such as touch screen control(it will eliminate the un-necessary buttons), better HD video recoding, more zoom, Bigger flash etc.

Buttons too small for husbands arthritic fingers and unable to tell this from picture on computer. I like camera and will use it but will have to find another camera for him. Brother is photo enthusiast and really likes this camera. This is my first digital camera and I am finding it pretty easy to get the hang of it but need to practice more to even give a comment about it.

The buttons are very small, obviously, since it is a small camera, but it does make it difficult to use somewhat. Overall, an excellent camera I would highly reccommend, GREAT flash for such a small camera. I am very happy with it.

This is a neat little camera that because of its size and weight is easy to carry to get the pictures you normally would not. Optical viewer especially good for sunny beach scenes because you cannot see the LCD.

Great product. Really a Digital Elph! Small, fit in your cellphone holder, takes great pics.
For the more technically savvy, this is a hackable camera with CHDK- search for it. The hack gives you a lot of additional features- some that are DSLR like. By itself also this camera is great.

Extremely small camera, so it's great for keeping handy for travel/events when you don't want to be weighed down. Unfortunately, this is really the end of the "pro" list for this camera. I am very much a NON-PRO photographer, so need all the help I can get from my camera. The color quality on these pics were very sub-par. I'd previously used a Sony camera, for which the photos always turned out well. The long lag time between depressing the button and the picture being taken was annoying, and caused me to mis-time photos. No grip on the camera made it a little difficult to hold/easy to drop.

I have had several point-and-shoot Canon cameras and found this one to take as good photos as my bulkier digitals. I bought it for its compact size and assumed I would have to compromise photo quality. I was wrong. Unless you are a professional looking for a big zoom and high end lens, this is a great all-around camera for vacation shots and video and even creative photography.

It's nice compact digicam. Picture quality and videos are great. You need bigger SD card (8 GB+) if you want to shoot videos since it's 12.1 Mega Pixel camera. Only disadvatage is that this is so tiny camera that we are always afraid about caring it and always handle with care. I'd suggest to make it ROBUST even if weight is increased with that,rest all is fine.

Put it in my pocket. I never owned a small "point and shoot" film or digital camera. Will take it places and record memories I would not have will my larger SLR's. The "Decisive Moment" keeps entering my head as I carry it.

I've had this camera for just a few weeks. I had a 4 year old cannon sd. The new software is a vast improvement. This babby does so much so well and is truly easy to carry in your pocket.

A small point and shot has many inherent limitations
and is not really a replacement for a more sophisticated camera. Cannon does a superior job at a reasonable price point with supriingly good results.

I am a new college student who needed a very small, portable, easy to use camera to take with me for very quick snapshots. This camera certainly fits the bill, as it is absolutely tiny and has a very functional auto shooting mode. It looks very svelte, and I have received positive comments on both its looks and its picture quality from others. The battery door has a slight tendency to pop open, but it's not a huge deal. I heard that it had a short battery life and so bought an extra battery from Abe's, but this was really not necessary.

All in all its a good digital camera having almost all features compared to other big cameras.
Picture quality is also too good.

I would recommand this camera for every one who is looking for digital camera and specially who loves the portability. Its really credit card size and fits into my jeans pocket.

Only problem I could see in this camera is its battery life but you can carry additional battery with it. Other than that its a cool buy.

I use my D40 DSLR for photography tour but when I'm hanging out with my family and friends I prefer having this little camera which is gives good quality pictures as well as HD videos.

This is a lot of camera in a teeny-tiny package. It is easy to use - especially if you have had Canon products before. I take it everywhere. I have taken amazing photos. It is smaller than an average cell phone.
I have small hands so the size isn't an issue for me - but if you have large hands/finger I can see where there might be an issue.
Battery life is long.

I purchase this camera as a back up when my DSLR is not suitable for the atmosphere, or when I just don't feel like carrying the load. I might be a little bias since I am comparing it to a DSLR. But you can decide for yourself whether it's fair or not.

The Pro:
I love the matted feel it has, and the large clear LCD is flawless. Controls are easy to navigate and won't take days to set up. The slimness of it makes it possible to fit virtually anywhere. But because it's so small, it might be hard for someone to get a grip on it, or press the button if you have big hands. Recording in HD is much better then recording without one. This was the feature that tilted me over into buying it. This camera is great and delightful for the outdoors with low ISO.

The Con:
As stated before, the slimness might be a problem for some, but not for all. I'm personally ok with it. It doesn't come with a case when purchased, so make sure to buy one first before making the purchase. The image quality looks amazing on the camera's LCD for both pictures and HD recording, but the result is a little disappointing when you see it on the big screen. When you transfer it onto a PC, the colors are a little dead. I basically need to use Photoshop to add a little saturation back into the image. Using it during indoors is when the problems really hit me. The Image Stabilization doesn't seem to be doing its job, even when set on auto. Pictures come out blurry and ISO have to be set on Hi. Now a DSLR has noise reduction built in, so even at ISO of 1600, the image looks fine. But when this camera is set to ISO200 or higher, you start to notice the unpleasantness. When you record, it not only looks sharp, but it also drains the battery. Like the pictures, when you transfer it onto a PC, the results are a little different. The sharpness is there and it's much better than your average point and shoot recording, but the problem is the colors!

Overall:
It does what it needs to do most of the time, but could be better. It's no DSLR, but still a good camera.

This is the third compact canon digital camera I've owned and I was a bit nervous about how small the camera was, but I really love it! It fits anywhere-you never have an excuse not to take a camera with you and it takes amazing photographs-much brighter and crisp than my last one. It takes a bit longer to find them all, but all the same features are there that I love about canon, especially the color swap. It also does a great job taking photos at low light. If you have large hands or are clumsy, you may want to consider a bit larger model, since the buttons are pretty small/close together. I would highly recommend this camera.

First off, let me say, I love this camera. The SD780 replaced my previous Canon A400. I am more than satisfied with the image quality and the slender size is perfect for slipping into a pocket.

The video capture impressed me immensely, right out of the gate. The kit even came with a micro-USB to RCA cable that let's me connect the camera directly to the television.

The anondized metal casing gives the camera a very sturdy feeling. But the slim size is almost too small. There were several times I found myself gripping the camera extra tight during a recent camping trip. Another compromise of the slim form factor is the special lithium-ion battery. So far battery life has been great. I also bought an extra battery so I always have a fresh one available.

I am very pleased with this camera so far. I previously owned a Canon SD500 from a few years ago, and was happy with it, but this camera has improvements in every area. Smaller, lighter, bigger screen, higher resolution photos and video, more storage capacity, better photo navigation and more. The price is also great, and it is one of the few point-shoot cameras that still has an optical viewfinder for times when it may be too bright to see the display screen.

I found this camera to perform well under most situations. It's very convenient to carry around all the time. Considering the size of this camera the performance is very surprising, especially the HD capable video. The video quality is as good or better than most HD flash driven video capturing device. There are better performing cameras out there but Canon got it right by packing this camera with many useful features in a small compact unit. My only complaint are the small buttons on the back of the camera. If you have large fingers the buttons may be cumbersome. With a camera of this size small buttons and switches are expected. The lag time between takes could be less but it is better than previous cameras I've owned. Overall this camera meets all my ewpectations.

I've used a number of Canon cameras, so the picture quality on this little thing came as no surprise. The video, however, is wonderful. It doesn't quite replace a camcorder as it is difficult to keep steady, and the audio is decent at best, but the quality of the picture really shines when connected through HDMI to an HDTV. If you like Canons, this one is another treat.

You will not believe how small this camera is until you have it in the palm of your hand. My blackberry Pearl is larger! It is easy to use and unsderstand. I didn't even read the manual for the first week or so and caught on right away. Images come out crisp and clear. And the image stablizer is great. As well the blink feature is great. I would recommend this camera to a pro or a joe!!!
