I used the camera on my trip and it was very easy to travel with. Because it is so small and light it made taking pictures in locations that allow limited photography quick and easy.

Out of the box, a great little camera with more features and fuctionality you can think or dream about. The automatic mode ie "fire and forget" is brilliant. Its little computer just knows best. This is my 4th Canon and the improvements, generation by generation are revolutionary. I think their engineers like to make pictures too because the new stuff is actually usable.

Really just needed a new point n shoot to replace the casio. This canonperforms horibly (slow response, terrible image quality for 'auto') and the access to the usb port is just plain annoying. I looked at viable other options and should have just bought another casio. The inlaws canon 1100 IS performs better than this one.

I have high expectations as I normally shot SLR, with lenses worth thousands. But I needed a small pocket camera and this one is the perfect size. Easy to use in "auto" mode, and it looks like you can do manual on most settings, but I've only shot auto mode so far.
Image quality is great for a small camera. IS works well, making indoor shots without flash possible. Shutter lag is better than most small cameras, but it's still present. I don't know why any manufacturer would produce a camera with shutter lag, but they all do.
Overall, highly recommended.

Got this for our daugther who makes a lot of short films with friends. I am amazed by the combination of the light weight and the ability to shoot HD video (ultimately what helped me make my choice). I also recommend buying the Digital Concepts Extended Life Battery (SKNB4L). Also note if you buy the Vidpro ACT-10 Black Carrying Case (VPACT10K) it will hold the Camera, AND the charger with an extra battery safely and firmly.

Its a beautiful small camera with lot of features. Specially i like the HD Video feature. Its not the best but very nice with regard to the camera lens size. The Battery life is good. I am using the Class 6 SDHC Card and with that the lag time is really low. Overall Nice investment. I now carry this along with my SLR.

Great camera at a reasonable price. I've never owned a camera that was more than [$]. Bought this because it included the HD video. I wasnt counting on the video quality actually being HD. But it was. I wouldnt say it look at good as Monday Night Football or anything, but it certainly looks better than my standard def camcorder.Takes pictures quickly. Good purchase.

I use this camera for family outings and any time I'm out and about. The picture quality is amazing 12 pixels in such small camera!.. The size can be an issue because I can't find it sometimes in my purse. But I love this camera!

This camera performed beautifully from the moment we opened the box. We had a busy weekend with friends, went to a baseball game and an outdoor summer concert. I couldn't believe the quality of video and zoom that it was able to capture of a band on stage at night! I was able to shoot quite a bit of video and enjoy the concert the next morning on my tv with the cables that came included in the box. It was so easy to hook up and watch the videos and photos I had shot for everyone to enjoy. Plus, I love the color! My friend who saw my pics bought the same camera right away.

Other than a slightly longer pause between photos when shooting at full resolution, this camera is amazing. I took shots in Washington DC in dim light that look as crisp as if the sun was full brightness. It works great with my Mac, it fits in my pocket, and I can't imagine being happier with a camera.

Bought for my wife to carry in her purse so she does not have to lug our DSLR package around. Takes great quality pics. Somewhat easy to use with HUGE LCD. The battery life is not very good, I recommend purchasing another battery with a greater capacity. There is a long lag time but that is to be expected with most compact digi cameras.

Overall great for travel or 2nd camera. We have gotten pics of the kids where before our DSLR was left at home. :)

All cameras I owned are Canon so I would say they have always live up to the expectations. After having a G7 for a while, I wanted to get something more portable and small enough to fit in a pocket and this one is perfect! It is a strong built camera and the red color makes it stand out even more among all the boring silver. Highly recommended. The buttons are a bit hard to press since it is so small, but I think that is just a minor thing to deal with. Takes great pictures, maybe a little weak in the low light setting, but still a good deal.

Canon is always great.

Just came back from South Africa with a 5D Mark II and this small point and shoot. And I used the SD 780 IS most of the time. This camera is excellent. Very fast, sharp. Excellent exposure and color processing.
Only con I found was at night, not great at boosting exposure and the flash is not very powerful to get thing a bit far.
But otherwise this is the best camera I've had (and I have bought a lot!).
