I purchased because of the large optical zoom which is great and larger file size. I mostly shoot outdoors and wildlife & wanted the extra zoom for that purpose. Unfortunately first outdoor pictures were too light and green grass or pine needles are lime green. This was using Auto setting which is what I prefer & have always used w/other cameras. I never had color distortion before, what you see is what you should get & am not a techie, but have studied manual & there is a button to click to lighten or darken before you shoot. This is not practical when you are taking pics of creatures that do not pose. Also, settings disappear when camera is turned off if using Auto,so I may have to try and figure out some preset options or maybe call Nikon for advice. Perhaps it is only my camera that does this. I don't know.I carry both cameras and use P90 for long shots.
In box below, I would recommend to those who are experienced in camera settings.

If you use the product in Good light the results will be comaprable to some other good SLR's . It works nice in low light also but need to make proper settings and flash.

I have only owned compact digital cameras previous to this one. This is definitely a step up. I am still learning how to use all the features but even on the auto settings, the photos come out good.

In Last 4 months i purchased 2 cameras cannon and Nikon(P90)dont want to disclose cannon model name. as it was also a good camera but after purchasing that i was not fully satisfied so i gifted that one to my friend :) and Purchases Nikon's P90. Its really a good camera I like its picture quality Indore and outdoor. flash is powerful in case of low light. 24X Zoom is ultimate and on full zoom pic quality is also good. I love this camera its a Mini=SLR for me. Thanks Nikon for such a nice product

This camera is a very good one. It shoots great pics outside especially. My favorite part of this camera is the sports mode. I caught my friend doing a back flip in perfectly clear steps to the actual back flip. While reviewing the pics, its like watching a silent movie of it. Its good to capture all those perfect moments in fast action times. I love the 24x Zoom. Its not big and heavy, its perfect to take with you wherever you go. I should know, i take it with me everywhere i go. I just got it for like 5days and i already have over 400 pics that i just cant get enough of. Great for beginners and people that need a family camera for just every day use.

I live near the Walkway Over The Hudson (6768 feet long and 212 feet high). This camera lets me photograph things down at the river level and along the banks. It is fabulous. I have not yet learned all that the camera can do [...] I also use it for client work (advertising).

People who are looking for a wide angle zoom with Relatively speedy; tiltable LCD; performance is best of its class. The LCD is pretty good, it has a wide viewing angle and doesn't wash out in direct sunlight. I loved it..

I've only had the camera for a month but love it so far. The zoom is amazing. I love not having to change lenses. I wish it had a lense cover but otherwise think its a wonderful buy.

If ppl say not a good camera, that means they don't know how to use it. I have personally compared it image quality with Canon sx120, and the normal point and shoot cameras, though I know this is a bad comparison. but for me it was proved after i compared the pics taken by them. Most of the other cameras show object very close even if they are standing far, but P90 is amazingly different in that. I liked time lapsed mode video. People are comparing it with SLR everywhere, and honestly this one deserves to be compared to an SLR. Zoom is perfect,image clarity is mind blowing, it has manual control. Easy to play with them I love it.

I bought this for my brother-in-law and after trying it out, I liked it so well that I bought one for myself and also one for my brother. The wide range of the zoom is great for wide angle and for wildlife.

It was easy to learn to use and takes good quality pictures.

Two of us use this camera almost daily, mainly for landscape and nature shots. We upgraded from a Nikon Coolpix 8700. Every objection we had about the 8700 has been answered in the P90. Startup is fast, so we don't miss photos while the camera initiates itself. The wide angle/telephoto control has been moved to the shutter button so composition is done with one finger. The new larger screen size means we can take photos without putting on our reading glasses, which cost a lot of shots in the past. We would absolutely buy this camera again, except that by the time we wanted to do that Nikon will have surpassed itself again.

I love this camera.It's really cool. Although I am yet to go through the manual to use all the features. Battery life can be improved and display screen should be fully tilted like canon ones to avoid scratches to display screen.

I use the camera mostly for travel and family photos. I like the camera's versatility, but battery life could be better. With my previous Coolpix camera I used one spare battery, but with this one I will need two spare batteries. When I travel, I take as many as 2000 photos in the space of 1 1/2 weeks, thus I need to have a lot of battery power on hand.

Everything I read on the Nikon web site regarding the P90 was true. It is more of a camera than most of us are used to using. Shutter and Aperature priorities as well as Programmed shutter use. I got an 8G SDHC card to go with it and don't expect to have to get another one.

3" viewing area that tilts. Hugh zoom. Fair manual. A very good buy.The "4 hour battery" [...] is a bust, lasted about 30 minutes. Think I should get another battery or my money back.

I haven't had enough time to really put the camera thru all its paces. Got the camera a few days before a trip to Europe & primarily utized the auto mode. Will have to have more time to adequately review the camera. Knowing Nikons reputation I'm sure the camera is an excellent camera & any problems will be operator error.

This is my 1st Nikon after many Canon camera's and I love it. Very easy to pickup and use. Booklet has easy to read instructions. Found the 2second delay for the fully extended zoom helpful in reducing blur. The zoom is amazing. Just used this on a 10 day tulip festival tour and got some great photos. Scenery, people, flowers, animals, all great. Love the movable back screen makes viewing in the sun easier.

I am not a professional photographer, but this little camera does a GREAT job taking the pictures I want to take. Very good in low light, flash and daylight. Good battery life (I recommend an extra battery if you use a larger gig memory card though). Then screen is easy to use and to see or you can use the view finder if you prefer. The P90 is a light weight camera. The zoom is jaw dropping. I highly recommend this product. Holds its own in the Nikon family of cameras.

Overall a great point and shoot camera. Incredible lense with great macro to long zoom cability. Lots of digital controls for optimizing results, but have to learn them well to get the best results, which will take some practice. The large LCD display is excellent. Lots of room for creativity & easy to use menu system.

A few Cons - There is no flash hot shoe so you're stuck with the tiny on-camera flash. No Raw mode so you have to chose from 2 different compressed file options, and the camera has a light weight, plastic feel and the controls and dials feel a bit fragile and loose. But, this is not a professional DSLR and I haven't had any problems with the camera at all so I really can't complain.

Overall an excellent consumer DCam and I would highly recommend it.

I use this Camera to photograph Eagles In Alaska!
I am so impressed with the Zoom! I can zoom in on the eagles and catch the shot long befoe they fly off! So far I have not found anything I do not like about it besides it does not shoot in Raw Format. But with the quality of the pics I am getting I don't need it!!
