After using the camera for the 3rd time, I got a zoom lens error message. When I called Panasonic they informed me that the camera would have to be returned in order for them to correct the problem.
I just sent it back and am standing by for the update. I don't know if I would recommend this product at this time.

Mainly use this for taking pictures for visual tours, realtor pictures. The indoor, outdoor ability of getting wide angle shots and close up pictures is great. Flash lightens the corners of dark rooms. Little distortion of the edges. The attachable wide angle lense is good for outdoors but a shadow is cast by the lens when using the flash.
It has a lot of variability. Do like the ability to set the pixel size so eliminate a step in the processing. Took a while to figure out the custom set up. But picture quality is great and it is easy to use. Just takes a while to get use to. I use it practically every day.

Stabilization with 18xtelescopic shots is fantastic. See pics I took of kite surfers way off shore during 30-45mph winds. Hand held,no need for tripod and clear photos with no blur.[@]

I use this camera for personal pics and photos for my books.
The quality of the pictures are superb. The ease of switching between modes is a plus.
This is my second Panasonic Lumix.
I would recommend the DMC-FZ28S if you want great quality for a reasonable price.

I was looking for a good quality camera so that I could take better pictures of my family. This is my first DSLR-like camera and had heard great reviews from another person that had bought the camera. I have had to scale back a little because I found myself taking too many pictures trying out all the different settings. The LCD is big and clear and the zoom is more than enough.

I wanted a sophisticated camera without the bulk of an SLR. This camera is very lightweight and feels great in the hand. I don't feel it is a particularly easy camera however. I haven't had time to do more than open the box and take holiday pictures. They are crisp and I love the zoom. I know I need to set aside time to learn all the functions and do a little experimentation. This camera meets my expectations and I think will prove to be very versatile as well.

Have used this camera for general snapshots to detailed macro shots, as well as video. The video capabilities are great - clear shots, decent sound, and the zoom functions in video mode. Killer macro, RAW format shots have outstanding detail, and the various functions can be quickly accessed via menu.

Ordered from Abe's based on price and reviews and it arrived extraordinarily quickly - as in two days during the Christmas rush - and as advertised. Very good purchasing experience.

This camera was a Christmas gift, an upgrade from what I was using, and what a great upgrade it was. Easy to use, clear pictures, great telephoto. Still leaning how to use all the features, intelligent auto, nice to have while your learning. Still not sure how the red eye correction in the camera works, sometimes, there is still some red eye. However, easy to correct with the software that comes along with the camera. All in all, great little camera!

Very impressed with the number of features for a camera in this price range. Only criticism so far is the instruction manual which is not very well organized and can be confusing for a first time digital camera uses.

Purchased the Panasonic DMC-FZ28S for its burst mode rapid shot mode and got so much more. The rapid shot mode will continually shoot rather than purform only a three shot burst as other camera do. This has allowed us to capture many shots that would have been missed on our other cameras. The multiple auto selections give us control without going to full manual. This has allowed enhanced shots on the fly in sports, night, back lit and video conditions. The battery life is great with over 400 shots on one charge, many with flash. An unexpected pleasure is the high resolution video that worked even in low light.

WOW!! More than i thought could be put into this powerhouse of a camera. And so simple to use. The pictures come out amazing when printed or just viewed. Even action shots were picked up at a football scrimmage, and without any adjustments. Nearly all were bright and clear. Like the bright flash at a distance too. 320+ pictures this weekend. Better pictures and cheaper than my Canon. Don't forget one of the inexpensive accessory kits. Thanks Abe's of Maine and Panasonic!

As most of the other reviews, amateur/professional, have already stated, the FZ28 can do everything the previous models can but better. I read about the slower photo-taking speed of the default sports mode from a few other reviews/articles but did not know it was that much slower until I actually used the camera. Having just 3 MP by using the high-speed burst option in the scene mode is just not good enough. Still experimenting with the "creative" option of the Sports mode but I suspect the manual mode may be what I shall end up using instead.

I love Canon cameras and didn't want to spend big bucks on a digital SLR. I own a 35mm pentax that has served me well for years. This camera, although it has a few limitations, seems to possess the best of both worlds. The battery life is great and the on screen help guide is wonderful.

I upgraded from an fz30 and this is so much better it is unreal. Great shots indoors in low light, flash works much better and faster, less noise can use higher iso settings, Excelent lenses and zoom, love the wider angle. Love the smaller size. With the fz30 it gave me great outdoor shots in good light and it was fast, but this is soooo much better and more versitle, I dont need 2 cameras now. The 18x zoom pictures are as clear as the 12x zoom were when hand held. I do a lot of my photos. off a horse so this camera is a great improvement.

The controls and lens are just right for family pictures. Fast enough to catch a speeding child. The telephoto keeps the pictures tight on people, not the surroundings that aren't that relevant anyway in the end.
I think they may have gone overboard on the number of knobs and switches on the back since the last model that we owned, but my wife likes how it became smaller and lighter. So, a great camera that was improved on even if it may have been improved a little too much for simple picture taking.

Upgraded from a Fuji s700, I coudn't have made a better purchase ! As I mainly shoot drag racing...this camera keeps up to pace with the action. I believe the shutter lag is only 0.42,I have no problems catching fast action shots.

After my camera was stolen, I needed another one so instead of buying the same kind I bought this camera. I am so happy with this. It's easy enough to use , pictures look great, macro shots are so fun to take and it has wide angle too. Couldn't ask for a better digital, even SLR's.

Fast focus, great image stabilization. Auto mode is excellent. 18X zoom is outstanding and with the auto mode capability meets almost everything I need. Those times when special circumstances arise there are many other options. My wife loves the macro capability for flowers and uses the pictures for painting.

So far have found no problems.

The IA (intelligeni auto mode)is all I have used so far and love the results. Only had it about 6 weeks now but glad I bought this instead of the Canon I was looking at. This FZ28 is the best of both worlds
I had used the P(program) mode and didn't change it to IA mode, therfore I didn't get very good results for a few pictures but changed it to IA and all was fine. I haven't gotten used to the lens cover yet and forget to remove it before trying to shoot. At least it tells you to remove it. I'm still in learning stage.

At this price and with such well-known manufacturer's performance capabilities, this has to be a real winner. The size is somewhat small for someone with big hands.
