Comments about Panasonic DMC-TS1G Waterproof Digital Camera - Green:

It is what it is -- a compact camera that takes nice photos when lighting is good.
Since there are no external moving parts (lens covers, zoom lenses) to jam or break and it is somewhat waterproff and drop resistant it is ideal for a younger user. Colors are good to my eye.
The macro capability is surprisingly good.
Under low light the images are noisy and sharp focus is lacking. An SLR it ain't.

Comments about Panasonic DMC-TS1G Waterproof Digital Camera - Green:

I purchased this Camera after doing some extensive research online. I wasn't looking to spend hundreds of dollars for a camera that I was going to use during my trip to SE Asia.

The best thing about this camera is its durability. I read some other reviewers complaining about the fact that waterproof seal did not do a good job of keeping the water out but realistically, how many people actually plan on doing a deep sea dive with a point-and-shoot camera? Pictures are sharp and the response time is fairly quick.

One thing I didn't like too much about the camera was the positioning of the zooming mechanism, kind of awkward but other than that its a solid camera.

Can't say enough. Great picture quality and color and waterproof! Wide selection of preset photo profiles including an underwater setting.Up close photo setting. HD video quality is at least twice as good as my last video camera. This a great camera for all around use. It's versatility makes it a great camera for outdoors and family pictures. I use mine for taking photos of homes I'm appraising. It's fast and has a great flash that really lights up a dark room.Love it!

Great camera. We purchased it for a trip to Belize because it is waterproof. We took it cave tubing and snorkeling several times and it did great, no leaks! The underwater pictures are pretty darn good. The picture quality is not as good as my digital SLR but good for a small point and shoot. There is a tendency for overexposure is sunny situations. Overall a great option for a waterproof camera.

Easy to toss in my purse (although I'm bad with not using a case to keep it in, I haven't had any issues with scratches or damage.) It's been dropped already and still works! I purchased for my cruise and have had no water damage. LOVIN IT! THE GREEN COLOR GETS LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS!

This is a great point and shoot camera for those that don't want to think too much when they take a picture but also enough manual setting to keep the casual photographer happy. The image quality is nice but a little soft with a tendency for CA. Also, I wish the water proofing was a little better. I'm not realy confident about it. Have a little fun and get it in green or orange.

i love this camera in comparison to the olympus. some features i absolutely love 1- there is no lens shutter so theres absolutely no chance of sand jamming it, where my old olympus broke because sand got stuck in the shutter and it would no longer close. 2- the action setting is awesome! i can take as many pictures in a sequence as i want with almost no delay. all of my other cameras had a longer delay which was very frustrating. 3- with abes of maine i got the extended warranty so incase i literally break it for up to 3 years its covered! you absolutely can go wrong with that!!

The only thing so far i dont like which is the same problem as my old olympus is that even though its waterproof for some reason moisture still get into the concealed areas for the battery and ports. Its not a whole lot but its there, i just make sure to check it every time to wipe it dry.

Comments about Panasonic DMC-TS1G Waterproof Digital Camera - Green:

I've only had this camera for a few weeks. So far, it's been a great little, yet sturdy camera. I haven't thrown it across the room or dunked it into a tub of water, but it puts my mind at ease if I accidentally spill a drink on it or drop it. The pictures have turned out well. I particularly like intelligent mode since it allows me to not have to worry about settings.

One thing I don't like about the camera is the requirement to remove the battery every time I want to charge it. It would be nice to be able to directly plug it into the wall or USB port for charging. There may be an accessory out there that allows this, but I'm not sure...

Comments about Panasonic DMC-TS1G Waterproof Digital Camera - Green:

This is my only my second Digital Camera, previous was Pentax Optio, also waterproof. This product takes much nicer photographs and the lens seems much nicer. My favorite feature it turns out is the high-speed burst mode-I can capture great shots of my 3 y/o daughter no matter how busy she is! Took some video while sailing recently and the video came out great. I will be having the seal replaced at manufactured specified intervals. I didn't do that with the Pentax and it only lasted 4 years.

Comments about Panasonic DMC-TS1G Waterproof Digital Camera - Green:

I bought this to have a small, pocketable, P&S camera I can use at the beach and pool while on vacation or elsewhere, when I don't want to carry my DSLR.

The TS-1 produces very nice results in good light (e.g. bright daylight), and excellent HD video (with autofocus, and the capability to use the zoom while taking video).

The capabilities to take shallow underwater still and video images is also fun, and the results are quite striking.

Under low light and/or at high ISO settings, the camera, like all small-sensor point-and-shoot cameras that don't have particularly large-aperture lenses, struggles with noise.

Unfortunately, my copy of this camera died (would no longer power up) for no obvious reason about 3 weeks into my ownership. Panasonic customer care has replaced the dead unit with a refurbished model. I purchased a green unit, but I was returned an orange version. Not what I wanted. I'm currently trying to get Panasonic to acknowledge their error, and provide me with a replacement that is the same model as the one I bought.

Having screened the output from competitive water/shockproof Oly cameras, the Panasonic wins hands down. The Panasonic beats (for me) the all the water/shockproof Pentax models simply by having real shake reduction. The Fuji competition is cute, and cheap, but has much poorer image quality and also doesn't have shake reduction. The new Canon waterproof model has comparable image quality, but a smaller zoom range, and is not really pocketable.

Despite my problem with reliability, I still give the Panasonic TS-1 the edge (for what I need) over the other "tough-cam" P&S competition.
