This is a GREAT camera!!! I did quite a bit of research before making this purchase, and I'm glad I did. I found a great camera for a great price. It's small enough to take anywhere, and takes wonderful crystal clear shots. I have taken pictures of my three year old son while he was in motion and the come out as if he was standing still. I love this camera, and was very happy with my purchase as well as the [...] I recieved from Abe's of Maine.

Still learning all of this camera's capabilities. Love it so far. I have a friend who is a professional photographer who has the same camera for her "quick shots" when she's out and about.

I enjoy this camera because while it's compact enough to carry comfortably in my purse, it has the optical zoom power to give me a lot of options re: range and detail. It turns on and switches modes quickly and the LCD is bright enough to review photos even in direct sunlight. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product.

Took it on a trip to Ireland. The camera is great, pictures were wonderful and my husband was able to easily use it. Battery life is long, only had to charge once or twice the whole month. Took about 1000 pictures!

Comments about Panasonic DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera - Silver:

I bought it for the Leica lens to really zoom in on nature shots. It is realy terrific. I could have gotten a screen larger than 2.5" or more resulution (both available in the TZ5), but this camera gives me everything that I asked for. My daughter loves using the special effects. My only gripe is the shutter lag which caused me to lose shots when birds and insects moved. I often use the burst mode now when I first point the camera to get these shots.

Comments about Panasonic DMC-TZ4 Digital Camera - Silver:

This must be the best point & shoot camera I've ever seen. Its manual mode is quite fantastic as well, to include such advanced features as light metering and auto bracketing. However, I've found that the artificial intelligence on the point and shoot mode it generally smarter than I am =P.

It's low light performance is quite good, though I've had a hard time trying to get non-blurry pictures without using the flash, even with the image stabilization enabled. Point & shoot mode seems to be pseudo-conservative on its ISO settings, which is good & bad. I'm sure if I went into manual mode or one of the scenery modes I would be able to fix this issue. Its low-light capabilities are certainly MUCH better than other cameras I've used.

The image stabilization really is a great thing to have. It has saved a great deal of pictures that I've taken that would have turned out completely blurry otherwise.

The zoom on this camera is VERY respectable, and still takes excellent quality pictures when zoomed out to the maximum.

The battery life on this guy is excellent. I was concerned when I could only use the rechargable battery pack that comes with the camera (what do I do when the battery pack wears out?), but buying additional battery packs is really very economical if you purchase from a third-party manufacturer.

I am a grad student, and one of the things that I regularly use this for is recording my class lectures. If you switch to the movie mode and remain in the 4:3 aspect ratio, I can record an hours worth of lectures at a little more than 1gb per hour at 10fps. The microphone quality is very surprisingly good, and nearly matches the sound quality of my semi-professional quality olympus DS-2 voice recorder. I find that the raw sound recording on both of these devices tends to pick up air-conditioning sounds frustratingly well. However, importing the files into my computer, converting the video format to MPG, and then processing the audio with an equalizer helps a bit.

For other purposes, the movie mode captures video better than I ever expected. One upset about the camera is the placement of the microphone. I often tend to hold the camera such that I cover the microphone with my finger (as opposed to recording lectures, where I have it sitting on my desk).

One other upset I had with this camera was the LCD screen; carrying the camera around in my pocket everywhere, I had several scratches on my LCD screen after just a couple weeks of use. Putting a protective covering over the screen helps quite a bit.

As I said before, I don't think I could purchase a much better camera that fits in my pocket. The TZ5 camera has slightly better resolution, has high def movie capabilities, and a better LCD screen (which takes a slight hit on the battery life), though it costs substantially more. If I weren't a student, and had money to burn, I'd trade up for the TZ5.
