The first time I used this camera was to take pictures at my daughter's birthday party. Most of the shots were of a large room with small groups of people talking....not the greatest. Then I used the "trimming" function. That worked great, from one picture I could get two or three really good ones by zooming in on different groups and saving a new picture.
I am not real happy with the shutter lag time, makes it hard to get a good shot of a baby, two year olds move fast! But with the burst setting you can eliminate the bad pictures and end up with a good shot.
Take the time to read the instruction book and you will enjoy this camera as much as I do!

I tried 4 different competitor compact cameras and this one absolutely Topped all others in its class! Images are razor sharp with beautiful color rendition and color saturation. Simple point and shoot or use other custom settings if you prefer. Fantastic wide angle to long zoom range in such a compact pacakge! I no longer have to carry around my SLR with bulky wide angle or zoom lenses when I have a compact that provides 24mm-300mm range that fits in my shirt pocket! You can't go wrong buying this camera even at its suggested retail price, but to be able to buy it at a discount is an extra huge bonus!

I spent a long time researching cameras of this type and by far found all the reviews pointing towards this camera over the canon (similar style). I brought this camera to the Olympics and have taken the most beautiful pictures and it was easy to carry around to all the races, skiing and just walking around. It takes great pictures and has really good quality. Can't go wrong.

Had a snowfall last week. Took videos riding at dusk to a friends and it was awesome. Clear picture and video. Surprising for such a small camera. Bought my granddaughter one after Christmas she loves it so I bought me the same one. Have other digitals but wanted one to carry in my pocketbook. No cons so far. Powerful for its small size. I did a lot of research and found this camera to get rave reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. I take mostly pictures of my kids doing various things, indoors and out, often in motion and often with zoom. This camera takes great photos regardless of the circumstances and I'm very happy to own it!

The Panasonic is a definite upgrade from my Sony. Best qualities are the zoom and shutter speed. Both are unrivaled in my experience. The only con and the reason I did not give a five star rating was the video. Panasonic incoporates new technology in it's HD video but down loading to my computer has been a hastle. Also the camera does not come with the "mini" HDMI cord. That is an added expense as I was unable to use an extra standard HDMI cord I alreay owned.[...]

The stabilized zoom is best used so far, compare to similar priced Nikon or Canon point and shoots.

The 12X zoom makes this camera versatile. Compose a dinner table shot or the kids swimming in the pool with very little effort to situate yourself for the best position/distance.

Good low light photos or video for a point and shoot

Image stabilization pretty potent... when panning a shot with video a noticeable lag occurs before the image actually begins to pan.

Happy with results for typical video of "blowing out a birthday cake"

High Sensitivity mode produced fairly good results a the local aquarium.

i chose thi camera for quality pictures and i have not been diappointed. but don't use the IA setting. the pictures are much better used in the SCN setting. the video capability is good, including zooming while recorded. there are two format choices. i use the mpeg(quicktime). if you choose the avchd lite, you have to use the PhotofunStudio software to use the video. i found the PhotofunStudio is hard to use. i had to call support to figure how to use it. it does have a slide show function that can include the music of your choice. i am a casual user. i turned it on and immediately took pictures. but read the manual. it's worth the time. the camera is not cheap. with all the extras i needed spent more than $400. i returned a $179 canon, but found the pictures were horrible. you get what you pay.

I wanted the Nikon FG but my wife wanted a sub compact. This camera is one of the best sub compacts that I have seen. Very clear pictures and good HD video, both when lighting is good. The sunset feature works well.
The fill flash for close up photos at low light also works well, but make sure your subject is not moving. You can't change the manual settings to do things like time lapse at night. Again the sports works well but only in good light (as with most cameras). I really like this camera for my wife to use, but it is not a DSLR so I will eventually buy my Nikon D90.

This is a perfect camera for the serious photographer to have in his or her bag. The enormous zoom range and the Leica quality lens make it a great deal. The fact that it shoots HD quality movies is a serious plus. It also fits into a shirt pocket. For the features, it is the best camera deal among all the point and shoot cameras. My only criticism is a slight shutter lag when using the flash.

Its a beautiful camera, get compliments on it all the time. It takes wonderful pictures, and the different modes are intuitive for a not-so-professional photographer. It IS heavier and to thick to slip into a pocket, but the very large leans is the cause of that.

I did find a case that fits it perfectly. I had searched all the stores looking, and they were all too small or too big. The Panasonic DMW-LCTZ3 leather case for the TZ3 camera fits the ZS3 perfectly!! and its sleek and stylish to match the camera.

How you use the product: Everyday memories

Things that are great about it: compact, yet solid; great screen; incredibly clear image with extreme zoom; AI setting is great for those of us with terrible eyes. The video is AMAZING and the smooth zoom during video recording is wonderful and makes shots look professional.

Things that aren't so great about it: Red eye reduction does not seem to kick in on AI setting; not so good in low light

Overall: If you want good optical zoom, compact, solid, easy to use for all levels from child to pro - this is a great camera even if pricey at first glance. Abe's had the lowest price anywhere (by pennies, but pennies add up)- and I researched the heck out of this before purchasing

This is one of the best camera I have used. I had to choose between this camera and Canon SD780. I liked Panasonic because of its good image quality, also it feels comfortable in your hands. SD780 is too small in hands.

Easiest camera I have ever used. Take the time to read manual. Along my road trip I kept accidently discovering neat and helpful funtions, all easy to use. Excellent zoom and picture quality. On IA its almost impossible to take a bad photo. I took many out car window doing 50 mph and still got good shoots. Has great in camera photo trimming and zooming. Must use Lumix battery...but battery life is good and quick to recharge.Fun and easy feature is being able to plug into TV for easy photo/video sharing.

I actually bought this camera to replace a bigger and bulky Olympus with 18x optical zoom. The pictures are very clear except when in low lighting and you should force the flash option. The 12x optical zoom is great and the contruction is mostly metal and very secure. It is so compact and yet so easy to use with the Intelligent Auto function.

This camera is very powerful. I explored the features and created some terrific shots on my trip to Oahu. Landscapes, people, food, night photos. Then I handed it to my wife and set it to auto and she got the same stunning results. Face recognition, Stunning HD especially in bright sun, but even by hotel room lamps. We played it back on my Pioneer HD Plasma and our jaws dropped. I cannot say enough about the performance and value. And, by the way, I am a die hard Nikon and Canon fan, but I am glad I went with the web reviews abd bought this one for much much less. This is the best camera out there today!

This camera is extremely easy to use and a great buy for those that are technically challenged. We took it on a trip and never even read the directions on how to use it. All of the photos came out beautiful. The zoom works great and stowes easily due to its compact size. My only complaint was the extra battery that I purchased and does not work because of programming the manufacturer put in the camera. It's been a month and I am still waiting to find a battery that works.

This camera takes amazing pictures....everyone that uses it LOVES it. The photos are clear, the zoom is great and it is fast. I've only had 1 blurry picture in months of use. LOVE THIS CAMERA.

Only downside is the video capture (which is gorgeous) is in a non-standard format and you have to jump through hoops with software to convert it to something usable.

I always carry it. You never know when you will see something of interest. Set up is easy once you understand the manual. You really have to read it. The video camera feature is a nice touch. Overall this is one great camera. Great job Panasonic! The order process was also easy. The customer service that I received from Abe's was fantasic. Lumix ZS3 is an excellent camera. No matter how stupid you are, you could take very nice shot by using it. Abe's did a excellent job too. Because they shipped out my camera within a business day. I am very happy in the money I spend. I will recommend abe's of marine to my friends.
