I also got one of these for my son who's a contractor. He's ruined a couple of camera's from getting banged around and caught in the rain. This one is ideal for his work as he often needs photos to show home owners or builders damage to areas that are inaccessible to them. He also got some amazing landscape and underwater shots when took it with him on vacation to Puerto Rico and San Diego. Sure, if you're expecting the same quality as as professional caliber DSLR camera, buy something else. But for it's class, this camera takes some amazing shots. I take mine with me everywhere I can't take my DSLR or I'm worried about it getting wet or rough conditions, and love it. On the down side, the battery doesn't last long, so pick up an extra longer lasting one. Also, it's not the best in low light.

I owned a previous model of this camera and liked it so much that I sought out this newest version. Most of my pictures are vacation and outdoor ... especially beach and pool. This camera is absolutely great as a vacation snapshot camera. Take it to the beach and when you get back to your hotel room, just rinse it off the sand in the sink. Then take it into the pool for some water shots.
Unfortunately, low light performance is poor, but you can't have it all.
This is a great. robust, waterproof model.

i had just taken this camera on a cruise, it was absolutely fantastic underwater and outdoors for landscape images. The quality of color was vibrant. I did seem to have some quaity issues when photographing inside in the ship. The images became very grainy and pixelated in the low light situations even with flash. I would absolutly suggest this for anyone who is going to be using this camera in water situations

Needed a small camera to take with me on the job and in the field during rain, shine, snow, sleet, freezing cold, etc. so far it's been great. worked great in the late flinter season down to 10 degrees and easily slid out of my pocket to snap pics of wiley turkeys 30 yds away. Now if I only had it during fall when i saw bears and bobcats... doh. wish I had gotten it sooner.

Probably not for the pro picture snappers out there, but great for portability and durability in any weather. Outdoorsy people will love this little camera

Great Camera if you don't want to be bothered by too many adjustments and settings. I purchased this Camera after owning a Samsung HZ15W and never looked back.. This camera is so easy to use and set-up. I do a lot of product shots for [...]and I need a macro and image stabilization that works easy and effectively and this camera provides that... I also like the 1/2 flash setting for shots requiring just a small amount of light...

I only had the camera for a few days. I am an amateur photographer so I just want the automatic settings to take a good picture. Every indoor picture I took was grainy and extremely poor quality. Outdoor pictures looked fine, although my computer wouldn't recognize the camera so I couldn't view them on full quality. However, that was a mute point because if the indoor pictures are that bad, I have no use for the camera so I sent it back. Maybe you can play with the settings to get a better picture, but looking at reviews on other sites, many other people experienced the same issue.

shockproof and waterproof are what I needed only unit with 5x opti zoom. best price among other brand. this is my 3rd digi cam. SONY broke to easily.

I bought the camera to take along on my fly-fishing forays and not be concerned about it getting wet. I also wanted to take pictures of the flies that I tie or the flies I see hatching in the stream. THIS CAMERA SATISFIES ALL OF THESE REQUIREMENTS. I LOVE IT....

The camera is relativley simple to use and fits easily in a pocket. It's water proof housing is great for water use and dusty conditions. However, the auto focus feature is poor at adjusting to light conditions and any kind of movement. We often found that the shutter delay during some lower light situations caused total image blur.
The Auto focus feature is not recommended unless there is full light and little action.

Great little everywhere camera. Underwater, in the snow, just about everywhere this things just works!!!

Images are great, low light is ok could be better, but could be worsr, over all I`m happy.

This is a neat little camera that will fit about anywhere. It takes decent pictures, slightly noisy. It has a shooting mode for EVERYTHING, I wish the battery life was slightly longer and that it had a viewfinder, I'm old school about viewfinders.
This camera is great on vacation when the weather is bad and we don't want to take a chance ruining or DSLR.

This camera is PACKED with features that allow you to take perfect photos in ANY condition. Ease of use like any point and shoot, but it does MUCH more....and also works underwater. However, my lcd SCREEN COVER CRACKED AFTER BEING DROPPED FROM WAIST LEVEL TO SIDEWALK.

As an avid traveler and underwater photographer I wanted a pocket friendly easy to use durable camera that could withstand the abuse of my needs in harsh envronments. The Optio W80 does exactly that and so much more! Buy this camera and enjoy its quality construction, ease of use, multiple environment options and durability. Good battry life too! Only wish a few of the controls were a tab bigger for my large fingers to use, but so far not really a problem.

I have had experience with a lot of other brands of cameras before purchasing this one and i am very pleased with it.
What amazed me most was that at 30 x digital zoom the photo will look really fuzzy like with all other such cameras but once you take picture it fixes the fuzz that and it becomes sharp as ever.
