found this very easy to use; nice wide LCD screen; a little lag in the shutter time, but all in all a good little camera, reasonably priced. good for wildlife photos. and the instructions were so easy that the kids had no problems using it. However, it was a bit annoying that the menu and time stamp popped up every single time the camera was turned on (and since I turned it off repeatedly to save battery life, they popped up dozens of times a day, no matter what I coded it to do[...]). but the ease of taking closeups offset this little annoyance.

Well, it seems easy to set up, but we didn't really have the opportunity to look into all it's capacity and habilities. For an average user it looks good, like us, we are average but we look good!!

This camera was very easy to learn to use. The 24x optical zoom (26mm to 624mm) combined with the macro capabilty to 1 cm make this camera an ideal choice for anyone who wants all the features of a professional camera at near snapshot camera prices!

I graduated from my first digital camera to this and I love it! Takes amazing macros and the zoom is fabulous. I take pictures just for fun and personal use but I have a feeling the more I play with it, the more technical I'll become. I researched and researched cameras and Im thrilled I got this one. My mom has a comparable Canon and mine is so much more light and comfortable.
Better colors too.
My one little gripe is that I wish it came with a spare battery. I take some pictures a few times a week, so I charge it every other night to be safe because I think it drains just from sitting around. I plan to buy an extra.

The Pentax X70 is a great digital camera. I had been planning on spending upwards of $800 dollars on a Diginal SLR camera and was overwhelmed with a lot of the technicals. I'm a casual photographer who likes to have fun with fun features, but I don't need a "professional" camera. The X70 has many of the same fun features of a digital SLR without the hefty price tag and the extra needed knowledge of photo composition.

The 24x optical zoom is amazing! The Macro and super Macro settings are fun. There are 3 different settings for continuous shooting that are easy to find and use. The SCN setting has a huge selection of shooting options ranging from night portrait to firworks to moving pets and kids.

The "green" mode takes the guess work out of which setting would be best to use.

A con would be the picture quality at dusk or in low light situations. I haven't looked around for changing the setting yet, but in Auto Pict setting, the low light pictures are a tad grainy.
Another con would be the low battery life. The zoom feature & continuous shooting feature really eat up the battery. But when taking regular pictures, the battery life if sufficient, but I bought an extra battery to be safe.

Overall I am very happy with this camera. I'm especially happy when I consider that I would have been spending just as much on a "regular" point and shoot digital camera, and I spent far less that I would have on a Digital SLR package.

This camera has quite an impressive array of options, from the super zoom function to manual options. I want to learn more about photography, but didn't want to invest [$] or more on a DSLR. This is a nice options that has many manual functions in a DSLR but easy to use and learn from. Picture quality is excellent.

The X70 was a disapointment for me. This was my 2nd megazoom camera. Auto mode did not compensate properly for either low light conditions (indoor ambient) or subjects in motion such as children. In Burst mode under outdoor daylight conditions, color abberations occurred in the photos. In zoom mode, the autofocus selected nearer objects as the point of focus instead of the more distant object which was intended to be the center of focus. I was unhappy enough to go buy a different camera and give this one away. Somethings only happen once and you don't want to miss them.

Rapid shooting at 5 megapixels, compared to the Nikon, Olympus, and Kodak models of 3 mp, is an extremely nice feature. Best video resolution of all 4 24x zoom cameras. Detail superb. Have to remember to take off lens cap before turning the camera on, or else the lens glass hits the lens cap. Great zoom and wide angle to carry along instead of heavy dslr.

Up to now it met all my expectations.

It is a good and long established brand of photo camera in the photographic field, and at a great price too.

I only had this instrument for a couple of weeks, but so far,... so good.
