Comments about Sony DSC-T77 Cyber-shot touch-screen ultracompact Digital Camera [Black]:

So I bought this product for a few reasons:
1. I liked the design as my fiancee has a tendency to drop everything. The lack of movable parts was a plus
2. The touch screen. Having played with the other camers (like the canons), I just don't like having to keep track of so many nobs and buttons. The touch screen is very easy to use and extremely well-annotated. One can figure out how to use the camera just by reading the notes that pop up next to on screen buttons--i still haven't felt the need to read the manual fully
3. Functionality. This camera had all of the bells and whistles i was looking for (as someone who wanted to use the camera on vacations, etc): red eye control, landscape features, face recognition, easy to use picture review, easy interface with computer, B&W, rustic, etc.
4. Small size. I didn't want a bulky camera as i anticipated using the camera on long hikes. it slips right into your pocket easy. Any smaller, and the camera would really be too small to function. It's extremely light weight.

I was a little apprehensive at first since a bunch of folks commented before that they had variable experiences with how the pictures came out. This was the case when i first started taking pictures in my living room on auto mode. The single biggest drawback to the camera is this auto mode. However, this was circumvented as i navigated through the settings and changed the light setting to fluorescent indoor light. Then the pictures were perfect. The auto select function is fine when outdoors though. I am a bit of a control freak anyways, so I don't mind touching the screen twice to pick the mode i want anyways. For the price that i got it for, and for all the features as above, i don't mind one bit. Besides, I hear that for outdoor pictures, one needs to manually adjust things on the lot of the canons and kodaks that I was thinking of purchasing as well.

Having just come back from a long trip in Sedona, I can say that all of our pictures, indoor and out, were spectacular. Dark, sunny, landscapes, people all good. I even managed to get some awesome shots while riding on a train through a canyon at 20mph. For this, the auto speed was on. So i think the only thing that really needs to be adjusted manually is the environmental light.

I love the camera, and I would purchase it again. It probably is not the camera for professionals, but if you;'re looking for a camera for trips, lesiure, on the go, etc, and you want the camera to last despite multiple drops (our camera was dropped twice onto mountain rocks, without a problem) then I would reccomend this very camera.

The best price on this camera, after done thorough investigation came up to be Abe's of Maine. [...]What an awesome camera, I have always been a fan of those Sony portable Cybershot models..This one with 10 MP goes even beyond, even though it's just a little larger than a credit card holder. Its touch screen helps to change, edit, crop, modify and enhance pics, definitely a big plus.Overall very satisfied with this little one.Recommend to everyone!

I had a Sony DSCW50 and loved it. Got this and I love it too. It takes a bit to figure out the touch screen and controls cause they are different than the older models. So far, I don't think the batt. life is bad although they tried to talk me into getting a longer lasting battery because they said it wasn't great. I didn't get it and so far don't need it. Takes great pictures and it has a lot of fun features.
