I needed a camera I could point and shoot but one that gave me the opportunity to try out my own settings and learn techniques to capture my own style. Great camera to learn on and love the image stabilization feature--I started with a basic 18-55mm lens and the 55-250 and find myself wanting more already. I would love it if Canon offered and online class or info page for beginners.

Bought this to go on vacation and didn,t have much time to learn how to use this camara. Once we got to our destination I started to use and found out that it was very easy to set up,very user friendly and started snapping good pictures right away. I liked how easy it was to change lenses in different situations. Didn,t use any special features but that will be next. I would recommend this camara to anyone.

I am very happy with the XSI. I dont take video so the 500D/T1I is of no use to me. Also the image quality just didnt look as good as the XSI. The battery lives forever in this cam. The included package memory stick I got with it is a class 4, so no need to change that either. Abes made me nervous after the phone call, but made the order right in the end. I did however get no in box warranty card that Canon says is included with all U.S. Cameras. Read into that what you will....

I had a Hybrid which I thought I loved until my son turned 4. I was missing shot after shot on sport activities, getting blury and noisy shots inside and thought no camera could do what I want without spending a fortune. I tried some other entry level DSLR cameras and was not pleased. I'm so glad I tried this one, thx to CNET. I could not ask for a better camera and I LOVE the telephoto lens the best for my son's activites, family reunions and gatherings, but with regular family photos, the kit lens works perfect. This is my all in one camera and I actually got rid of my hybrid. I hope it lasts forever, that's how much I love this camera. I also like the feel of it. I have small hands and it fits perfect in my hands and very light weight for my wrists. Not bulky like I imagined. Loved the price, thx Abes of Maine. I have told all my friends and fam about u.

This is a great Camera...still trying to figure some of the options on it, when to use what lens and when??? why the auto focus decides not to work? The pictures taken so far are great! And I am sure with time and patients I will be a pro soon! Good first timer camera!

For someone that wants to start using DSLR type of camera, this is a great camera for the nonprofessional photographer. It is easy to learn to use, easy to use and takes a great picture. It keeps your interest to wanting to learn more about taking great photos. As a beginner, I haven't found anything yet that I can put any cons on. So far it has been a great camera and has been worth the purchase. About the only bad thing I can say is that there are so many accessories out there that are interesting, but I found myself getting confused on what direction I want to take my photography. I enjoy to take everyday photos, but I also like to take nature photos and want to take sporting event photos. Having all of the different accessories, I find it confusing on which lens and such I would like to purchase without going broke! But as far as figuring out the camera, it has been pretty easy. It is a lot of reading to understand, but once you get into applying what you read it is addicting.

This camera is my first SLR and all in all I'm really enjoying it. I upgraded to the SLR to keep up with my two young children. Once I was able to set the camera to the multi photos setting I've had no problem catching all those great photos I was missing before.

Unfortunately, I've not been successful with photos in mid- to low-light.

Overall I'm still pleased with my purchase.

This is an easy camera to use. If you like the point and shoot ability, use the automatic setting, if you like to make adjustments, you can select what you'd like to have all other settings 'slaved' to. Then there is the total manual setting, that allows you to do just about evertything..

Overall great camera. Excellent image quality and shutter speed. Recommend upgrading to extended life battery. Do not like that image is not displayed on lcd screen while viewing subject. And, do not like the long delay when using true flash at night.

I love this camera for it's "easy to use" features. The first day out of the box, I was able to read the directions and take wondereful pictures. It's so simple to use. My hummingbird pictures are marvelous.

Even for a non-camera/non-photographer person, this is a great camera to have. It takes great pictures for all of us non-professionals. The price was great and the product has not disappointed. I would strongly recommend to anyone shopping for digital SLR cameras.

I've had this camera for a couple weeks. We upgraded from a standard point and shoot and this is fabulous. Sure you could get the top of the line cameras that cost thousands but why when you can get a great camera that takes fabulous pictures. My favorite part is that I can take low light pictures now. The image stabilization really does help. My newborn was in her crib one morning with the blinds shut on a cloudy day. I was still able to take a picture of her without having to use flash or a tripod. 1/5 shutter and I was able to hold the camera still enough. That's something I never would have been able to do with my point and shoot.

I had pondered for days the decision between the XSI and the Nikon D60. I ordered the D60 but after waiting 4 weeks I cancelled the order and ordered the Canon. I am so glad that the Nikon did not ship. The Canon has everything and more than I know what to do with at this time but the online tutorials and a DSLR class at a local community college and using the camera has really taught me the strengths of the camera. The speed of the system, clear, precise shots in a variety of light conditons really adds that edge to the camera. I have found that the batteries have good life and I am using a 8gb SDHC card with 20mb/s write and the multiple shots are great. I would recommend this camera to anyone that wants a good easy to operate camera that can give professional results with time and effort. It is not magic but it is approaching magic.
