I am amazed at the fast shutter speed. It has a terrific zoom. The pictures are terrific!! I love the smile recognition feature and it takes great pis in low light.

The 30x digital telephoto does not become too grainy. The filter adapter needed to use a UV filter obscures part of the flash, so filter has to be removed for indoor flash work.

We are really enjoying the camera and all of its easy to use features. Previously we had an older 2M Kodak that was fine except for no megazoom. Not an issue anymore with the Sony DSC-H50.

This is a very nice camera for the price. I had previously bought the DSC-H7 and had to replace it because it got wet. I wanted another, I guess they don't make that model and the closest was the H50 (uses the same battery and memory card) So now I have extras of those from the dead H7. No complaints so far.

What a great camera, especially for the price! Has an awesome optical zoom and gets the right focus every time. The Night Shot feature is great for low light areas where you don't want to use a flash (example being military which can also use other IR illuminators along with the camera). It didn't come with a lens cover, though. So if you'll be taking this camera to a dusty, dirty, or SANDY place, I recommend purchasing one. The LCD display is big and its adjustable angle makes reaching photos so much easier (ie held over your/crowd's head). It's exposed tho, so buying a protective film is a good idea. The neck strap swivels on the side of the camera rattle and can be heard in video mode, but holding them or taping em solves that quickly. Sony's menus are easy to use and learn so mastering this beauty won't take long. THIS IS DEFINATELY THE BEST CAMERA FOR THE COST comming from a retailer [...]

This camera is ideal for taking puppy pictures. They are always in motion and it is much easier when you can take pictures with a little lag time. The pics are always in good focus and need little touch up and fewer rejects of a good shot.

I love my Sony DSC-H50 camera. Great pictures...easy to use. The only thing I'm disappointed in is the software that was provided. It's not as user friendly as the Sony software that was provided with my previous Sony camera.

I have been using Sony cameras for a while now. And this one is really a very good camera for the price offered. It has almost all the features that a common user would want and also a lot for the more informed user. Picture quality, colors are brilliant. Very easy to use, although you would need to go through the manual for understanding more advanced features.One problem that I see is the flash cannot be forced to always ON in many modes. It would have been more useful if that was an option in every mode.Also, the ISO setting cannot be modified in many modes, it's configurable only in ISO mode.I have not explored many things yet, but overall it looks, feels and operates very good. This is a high quality, versatile point-and-shoot camera. I will use it mainly to photograph buildings, though since I got it I have taken photographs both indoors and outdoors in all sorts of conditions. It can handle just about anything and is easy to use.

I was getting frustrated with the limitations of my point-and-shoot cameras and saw this as a good intermediate point short of a full DSLR. I was not disappointed. I have been very impressed with the quality and features of this camera and expect to spend a long time growing into its capabilities. The shutter lag, frustrating as it is sometimes, is minor by comparison to other cameras I've tried. I'd call this a great camera for the more than casual photographer who wants improved quality but isn't ready to take on a DSLR.

Great camera!! We looked at every camera in its category physically in shops as well as statistically online. The sony h50 is without a doubt the best bridge camera. Yes, better than the nikon. Yes, better than the Olympus, the Fuji, The canon, Panasonic, Casio, I could go on...

I hope this is the last review any of you have to read. I investigated it a lot. I bought it for my wife. She loves it. I think that it's a whole new world of camera.

I love all the great features this camera has, especially the ease in switching from standard photography to macro. Another great is how you can chose the size of the photo, so if you plan to email it you don't have resize them on the computer! Lightweight, function buttons easy to understand, and the flip out screen is wonderful!

The only thing to improve on is the sports taking -- the shutter is still to slow and there is a delay... but for all other shots it is a good camera.

love this camera. We have a new baby and it is nice to not have all the pictures blurry. Babies are so fidgity and can never sit still so with our last baby the pictures were always blurry. They have an action option that captures him really well even if he is moving.

We took a river boat cruise in Europe soon after recieving this camera and had a wonderful time with 600+ pictures and also the movie mode used on this trip. Had fond memories of the experience.

I checked many reviews before I purchased this camera. For me the battery life is adequate. Some say it is too short. Another criticism I found from others was the time it took to start up from the time the camera was turned on. It is true it takes two or three seconds from the time you hit the power button, but that is fine with me. The 15x zoom is truly great.

I like this camera a lot. It's almost easier to use than any other camera I've owned previously. The only thing I'd caution users about is to not stay in the "easy" mode too long as it really drains battery power fast. It's one of the choices on the rotary dial that you could easily pick without meaning to. Really, the camera is so easy to use anyway, I don't really even use that "easy" mode at all.
