Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I just recently bought this camera and so far it has been wonderful! I had been wanting a DSLR for awhile because I wanted to learn more about photography. I was stuck between the Nikon D40 and the Sony A200 and I am very happy with my choice! I brought it with me when I went to Washington, D.C. and it wasn't troublesome to bring around at all. The pictures turned out great and the controls were easy to use. I still have to figure out everything about this camera, but that's the fun part about it! I can't wait to use this again for my other travels.

Pros: Good to have the built-in image stabilization (especially if you sometimes get shaky hands like I do) instead of having to buy other lenses for the feature. The Function button is easy to navigate around, makes the camera look more organized with less clutter. The kit lens is pretty nice for a start. I also don't think I'll have any problems buying other lenses in the future since there is a wide selection when you combine both Sony and the old Minolta lenses (would be cheaper too I'm sure!).

Cons: Can't think of anything off the top of my head. I haven't had any problems with the camera so far.

Conclusion: Great starter camera for people who want to get into photography like myself! I definitely recommend it! :)

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I am very picky about the camera's that I use. I researched this for over 2 months. A friend of mine has an earlier model and loves it. I love the fact that I don't have to buy any new lenses since the one's from my 35-mm camera fit it. I love the pictures I get and the color's are very vivid. I can also use it at fast paced racing events and get some great shots.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I like this camera and it is my first DSLR, I think the panal is easy to control and the feeling of holding and touching is very good.
Comparing with lenses of Canon and Nikon, the construction of sony lense 18-70mm can be better if Sony can use better material and include more beatiful details. However, it's quality is amazing and I enjoy using it very much so far.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I initially purchased this camera for a specific need, but once in my hands I found it to be very flexible. My needs require that it be used as a fully manual camera. I wish it had a traditional aperture ring on the lens, but the menu based system isn't too bad. The focus ring and interchangable lens make it up. The biggest shock was that wife likes it. She's very much a "point and click" shooter... she was able to pick up the camera and use the automaticc settings very easily. She has even set aside her Sony Cyber-Shot (toy camera) in favor of the DSLR. She's a great camera for that price range.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I have yet to try all the preprogrammed modes, but this camera has performed beautifully so far. I purchased an extra battery, but I took over 300 pictures during a 3 day period before the battery level was unusable and I had to swap to the backup. The best part is I get to use all my Minolta Maxxum automatic lenses with it!

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I spent a lot of time researching the DSLR choices available and feel that the A200 suited my needs the best. I have used most of the top line 35mm film cameras and the Sony A200 beats them all. I also liked Abe's price [...]. By the way, the "live view" touted recently for SLR's actually takes away from the real SLR experience and will not appeal to those who take their photography seriously. To sum it up, the A200 is one fine piece of gear.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

This camera [A200] will be used mainly for family and travel photographs.

Advantages:
1. Costs much less than other brand DSLRs.
2. Uses old Minolta Maxxum lenses. These work well because the camera has in-body image stabilization.

Disadvantages:
1. Sony add-ons (lenses, flash units,..) are EXPENSIVE.

This model does not have Live View [focusing through the LCD panel] which is fine for me. I always use the viewfinder. Models A300 and A350 do have Live View if this matters to you.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A200 w/ 18-70mm LENS KIT:

I did more research on Dslr's than should ever be allowed. Canon, Nikon all of them. I choose the Sony for price, features, ease of use, how it felt in my hand and lens compatibility (Minolta).
It's image quality is as good as cameras costing hundreds more. It's fast, accurate and fun to use. You really can't go wrong With the Sony a200 DSLR. Buy it and use the money you save to go on a photo vacation!
