I bought this camera to improve the results from my old point and shoot. I found the camera to be only a slight improvement over my P&S and frankly I felt like I could not hold it securely. Worse still, the image quality was not very good in Auto Mode, the lens af was noisy and slow, the burst mode was < 2.5 fps (which is too slow) and the LCD felt breakable. The LCD manipulates and the Live View was sensational, but it blocks finger access to the left 4 way button and the LCD never seemed to lock down securely. On the plus side the camera was easy to operate (intuitive) and lightweight. Contrary to what you may read, a dSLR is not much use without a telephoto lens so buy one with a two lens kit. (at least)

I'm well pleased with the Sony so far... I'm able to use my old Minolta lenses and filters. It is very user frendly.

The LCD seems grainy to me, otherwise the final
print results are excellent. One of my main reasons to purchase this camera was to be able to use my older lenses. I now have all I need to update my equipment.

I bought this camera to use on a trip to see my son graduate from Naval Officer School in Rhode Island. I bought the extra telescopic lens, which did great when I was zooming in to catch the "First Salute" my son received. I also used it to take land and seascape photos of Newport. They all turned out beautiful. This camera is extremely easy to learn to use and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it.

I have a A900, and wanted something lighter for family use, this is it. Easy to use menus, smaller and lighter so its not a pain to carry around, and great pic quality from the Sony sensor. Cannot beat this camera. The lens is ok for regular snaps, but, get the CZ 16-80 for remarkable pics with this body.
