Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

I got this to replace my Minolta Maxxum 5 35mm (which I love). I have had more fun with this camera than any I've ever had. The live view is WAAAAYYY better than Canon's and makes the camera easy enough for my wife to use. I also find myself using the live view for 90% of my shots only switching to the viewfinder for fast action and outdoors. The kit lens is horrible. When you pick it up you can feel how cheap it is and the images are soft in the corners. I immediately replaced the lens with my kit lens from my Maxxum 5 which was way better.[...] The camera is VERY noisy at high ISO's and we can only hope Sony will fix that with a firmware update as well as adding focus lock and DOF previews, but even with the cons, this is a solid camera and the Sony implementation of live view alone puts it ahead of the Canon xs/xsi.

Well constructed body; Not as heavy as same class camera from other makers; The LCD screen tilts for flexible angles; The shutter speed is not consistent.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

Nikon is for Artist, canon for sports photography and Sony is for techological people who can get most of it by post processing if needed.

a350 is a good camera except its low light noise issues.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

Most of my photo subjects are either girls or cars (and sometimes girls in cars) and the Sony A350 does a great job with both :-) It's comfortable in my hands and the buttons are logically located. The Super-steady shot really works well - even when I use a telephoto lens. Another really cool thing is that I can resurrect my Minolta auto-focus lenses from my old film SLR. Great features, great quality - great camera!

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

I had great expectations before buying this camera, as I was so thrilled to see the perfomance of my friend's Canon Rebel XSi. But, I wanted to go for this camera simply because - I like sony and I was attracted towards the tiltable LCD. the 18-70mm zoom lens kit(canon gives only 18-55mm lens)and the built.

First and foremost, the camera looks great, built very well, easy to handle with a comfortable grip. Its very easy to use, given its wide range of options. Even if you are not a pro it will be easy for you to understand and vary the options according to the shot you are planning to take.

The "Fn" button near the LCD screen is very handy, letting you to select most-commonly used options like "AF Mode", "Metering", etc., on the fly. When operating in full manual mode, its pretty easy to hit the focus quickly as well.

I avoid using flash most of the times and the pictures which I've taken during the night times with the available lights have come out brilliant, giving you the exact sense of the lighting available in that area. I have tried capturing the water falling from a fountain by varying the shutter speeds and succeeded a bit! For a beginner like me, this means that am not very far from becoming atleast a semi-pro.

Last but not the least, the in-built Image Stabilization is a huge plus. Thanks for Sony for having this feature as I need not burn my pockets in buying lenses with image stabilization at a higher cost.

This camera is undoubtedly the best in the entry-level SLR arena, given its price and features. I have already recommended a friend and he has just ordered an Alpha A200K in abes of maine!

Note : It's better to buy the LCD Protector accessory when you buy this camera, as the LCD screen comes with no plastic wrap/shield. The LCD protector will help you in preventing not only scratches, but also smudges when you view through the viewfinder.

A350 is a great buy!
By AndyVerified Purchaser from North Carolina on 5/3/2009
Pros:
Comfortable Controls, Easy To Use, Great Image Quality, Image Stabilization, Stock Battery Life, Strong Construction
Cons:
Kit Lens
Describe Yourself:

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

The A350 has so far, been a great camera. I purchased this a week before vacation so that I could practice with it. The pics from our vacation have never been better. The camera is very intuitive, the controls are easy to use. I would reccommend buying the body only and picking up a better lens. The kit lens does the job, but you will soon see its limitations.Try a Sony SAL-18250. It is a great walkaround lens that every "not-so-serious" photographer should own. Also remember you can find old Konica-Minolta lenses that are great. I've found several at yardsales and flea markets for very cheap. People sell the old film SLR's cheap.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. [...] The stock battery is great 600-700 shots easy. Don't fall for that one.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

For those who don't like the low light issues get a 2.8 or lower lens. There are lots of Maxxum AF lenses sitting unused. I have a collection of Minolta af lenses and could not be happier with my results. The only limits are the ability of the user to take advantage of the settings.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

Great product, I had the a100 and after 30,000 shots, it's still going great. I'm giving the old camera to my son to use for astronomical photos because we were able to get an adaptor for his telescope.
Abe's was FANTASTIC!!! They called after I placed the order and verified it was correct, they offered to be there to answer the phone if I had questions or problems. No question, no problems, everything was just great!
The new a350 is wonderful, there are some changes from the a100, not sure I like the way the flash keeps popping up, but I guess I just need to read the book. Aside from that I love everything about the camera and have to say again how impressed I was with Abe's in the way they handled the entire transaction!

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

I bought this camera since it was brought to my attention that Minolta Maxxum lenses most likely would work with it and I have plenty of Minolta Maxxum gear that I have not been using. This is my first DSLR and I think it was a good first choice to get me started. The lens that came with the camera was at a great price and it works quickly. I have tried some of my Minolta lenses and they all produced excellent results. My 3rd party lenses (like Vivitar) did not give the desired result which was disappointing. The built in flash gives a pretty good fill flash result when needed. The camera is lightweight but it definitely does not feel "rugged". This will most likely be my backup camera as I get more involved in shooting events. I will be looking for a more high end camera, but this was a great choice for a first DSLR.

Comments about Sony DSLR-A350 SLR Digital Camera W/18-70mm Lens:

Great camera. Great features. Sony digital cameras have been overlooked too long. I've worn out two over the years as a semi-pro photographer taking cattle photos for advetising and a magazine. My old Minolta lenses work very well on this camera. The fake shutter sound/clunk is ridiculous and annoying.
