Brand: SIGMA
Located in: Digital, Lenses For Digital Camera
The SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM incorporates Sigma’s original anti-shake compensation function, with a 13.8 times zoom ratio. As opposed to having an anti-shake function in the camera body, this lens’s Hybrid Optical Stabilizer provides not only an anti-shake function for the camera body, but also compensates for image shaking in the view finder as the Optical Stabilizer is built in to the lens. Incorporating four Special Low Dispersion glass elements and three aspherical lens elements provides excellent image quality throughout the entire zoom range. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7 inches) at all focal lengths and a maximum magnification of 1: 3.4 reproduction ratio, making it ideal for close-up photography. An inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, making it suitable for use with circular polarizing filters and the supplied petal-type hood. Incorporating super multi-layer coating reduce the ghost in the backlight photography.

Comments about SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM For Nikon (Including D40/D40x/D60):

This is my everyday lens that gets used most often. I no longer need the two Nikkor lenses 18-55 and 55-200 lenses that came with my D5000. This lens takes sharp images and focuses sharp everytime.

My only dislike is the zoom ring seems backwards to me. I'm accustomed to turning clockwise for zoom and counter clockwise for wide. This lens for some reason is opposite. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Buy it.

Comments about SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM For Nikon (Including D40/D40x/D60):

I was looking for a lens that could be used for general purposes and this lens seems to be doing the trick! A great lens for travel - no need to bring more than this one lens, which was my main objective for purchasing it. The quality of the photos are nice and the stabilization allows for hand holding in many situations.

Works great! Great value for the price!
Cons: Stiff zoom lens adjustment (probably just need some breaking in and will loosen up), lens too long for camera's built-in flash at 18mm (bought an external flash and resolved the shadow issue), f6.3 at maximum zoom.

Great all around lens to replace my Nikon 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm lenses. I don't have to keep changing.
It does have a tight zoom ring but I think it will wear in. Heavy but I have gotten used to it on my D 300

This lens replaced my Nikkor 18-135 stock lens that came with my D80. I wanted the extra tele distance but didn't want to sacrifice having an all purpose lens. I considered the Nikkor 18-200 but the price difference didn't justify the slight sharpness edge that the Nikkor has over the Sigma. Plus, I like having the extra tele and also, this lens as stabilization built in as well. So far the pics have been very nice and I have no regrets in getting this all purpose lens. I do compliment this lens with a 35mm f/1.8 and a 17-55mm f/2.8 lens.

Amazing tack sharp for the money and faster than I had ever hoped. The OS system gives me at least 3 stops more room....don't have to use the stick as often !! Yes, slightly heavy but considering I can now travel with just ONE lens, can not beat this baby!! Go high tech....

Comments about SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM For Nikon (Including D40/D40x/D60):

I am very satisfied with this lens purchase. The only thing I didnt like is the tight zoom ring
movement between 80 and 135mm, forward movement is ok but backward movement is a bit tight.
