I like the cap-less design of the drive. With the design, insert/remove operations need only one hand, and the cap can not be lost.

I used to remove all auto-run software at the drive. This makes drive' behavior more consistent on computers with different settings, and provides an extra barrier against viruses.

The Cruzer Menu Icon takes a little getting used to, as was the USB3 built in program options. But it is an option, so if your using it only for data, music, or files then don't install it that way.
You have the option when you first access the drive.

I use this to transport documents and audio files back and forth from my college campus and apartment. I am a radio broadcast major and must keep clips from on-air shifts, and this is perfect. I also save papers and notes from class to it and it works great!

I work in the IT field and there are times when I need access to files or programs which I cannot download for various reasons. Maybe the computer in question does not have network access or, as has been the case more times than I like, there's a vicious virus which I need to remove. In times like these, a USB flash drive like the Cruzer is my best friend. Not only can I copy installers and files to and from the Cruzer, I can also install portable apps such as OpenOffice, RevoUninstaller, or CCleaner, tools which I can use anywhere and which come in very handy. The Cruzer loads quickly and is very reliable when copying files to/from it. The explosion of portable apps makes flash drives like the Cruzer into a portable PC, from which I can surf the net, check email, open documents, and perform maintenance on any computer I plug into. With the price of 8GB drives below $20, it's hard NOT to pick one of these bad boys up.

Nice for U3 and portable apps and still plenty of room to back up or transfer stuff. Fitting on drive way too small to accept any keyring or holder. Only string thing like for cell phone charm fit. Extendable / retractable USB plug works (so far) but still no cap to keep stuff out of it.

I use it to move large files around. I have a Kingston drive that is faster, but then it cost WAY more. This is a fine all purpose drive for ordinary things. If you're in the CIA, then keep looking.

I bought this item three months ago and unfortunately lost it the very day that it arrived. Today, I find it laying outside in my yard, in the grass and exposed to the elements. I figured it was toast, but I said what the heck and took it inside and plugged it in anyway. It worked perfectly, with all of my data intact. I was absolutely amazed. This thing had been rained on, buried in snow, and met with the full heat of the sun, yet it looked and worked the same as it did the day it arrived. I am thoroughly impressed.

So far I'm very pleased with this product but I've only had it a couple weeks. I've used it to save/transfer files without any problems at all. All you have to do is plug it into the port and it appears as another drive to which you can save files. There is no set up involved at all. But remember....my comments about a product I have used for only a week or two have limited significance as I cannot comment on the durability and longevity of the product yet, which are two of the more important features.

Pros: Decent price, Sandisk reliability and decent speed.

Cons: Difficult to set up, almost no Mac support and its ridiculous that they make it so hard for Mac users to remove the installed software.

Summary: We use it on both Mac and PCs for file transfers and backups. The software included on it is PC only and everytime you insert the thumbdrive it wants to install the software.

The software is on a second invisible partition robbing you of storage space and reformatting does not remove it. You have to download a special removal program. That program is not easy to find and the Mac version is almost impossible to find meaning if you only have Mac.

You then have to nstall the removal program, remove the other programs and then reformat the drive.

Just a pain in the bum for something that could be so simple and easy to use.

Works great, but you should jump online and find the utility to blow away the pre-installed software. Not terribly useful but VERY annoying. Once it's gone it's a quick little 8GB drive.

I have had several flash drives and I love this one. The transfer speed is fast and it seems reliable as you expect a USB key to be.The differentiators with this item are that you can easily retract the USB plug and there's some proprietary key management software called U3 [@] which allows you to carry your programs and docs around with you easily. I haven't really tried this functionality so I can't vouch for it, but it seems like a cool option.

I use the Sandisk Cruzer 8GB to transport files among multiple computers. I like the basic design of the drive. It's small, light, fast enough, etc. However, having had a Cruzer Titanium before this one, the housing feels very light and flimsy. It's a very thin plastic and doesn't feel as if it could take a beating like the titanium one could. I do like the red insert in the USB port and I also like how the LED inside "breathes" when it has been ejected. All very nice. Time will tell if it holds up well or not. So far, so good.

Good flash drive, really good price. The slider design is nice, no caps to lose. U3 comes pre-loaded, which I'm sure is useful to some, but I don't need it and it keeps trying to load; minor nuisance, though. Great product, though, very high capacity and reliable so far.

I have several SanDisk Cruzers of various sizes. They're all built well and provide good service. Although not the fastes flash drives on the market, they're fast enough for my needs. The 'New Design' is just a gimmick; there was nothing wrong with the old design. Too, SanDisk is now shipping the 'New Design' Cruzer without a lanyard, which seems pretty short sighted and probably doesn't save the company enough money to offset the ill will created when users have to supply their own. C'mon, SanDisk, loosen the purse strings and give us a lanyard as you did with the old design flash drives.

Flash drives come in handy when you need to carry around files such as videos with you, and you don't want to lug around something bigger such as an external hard drive. These are great because they fit right in your pocket. I believe San Disk might be known for the U3 software that comes with it, but it's really simple to uninstall through the program on the flash drive itself. I think you can also download the uninstaller from their site. Overall, this is a great product.

I use this to transport high resolution photos from one computer to a location computer. I have had no problems whatsoever from this flash drive. That is crucial in my line of work. I have also had no problems whatsoever with many years of buying from Abes of Maine.

This drive comes preloaded with software that wastes space. The packaging doesn't explain this, or say how to use it. It cannot be just thrown away! To remove it you have to go to the manufacturer's webpage, download installation software, install it on your computer, and then use it to erradicate the unwanted software! If like me, you do not lightly install unknown software, you will not want to do this.
The drive also feels flimsy, and I have reservations about its long term durability.

On the other hand, if you get it on sale, it's one of the cheapest drives you are going to find, so I don't want to sound too negative. If you aren't going to be treating it too roughly, and can ignore the extra junk on the drive, its a heck of a lot of storage for the money!

I already have a 4GB and 8GB Sandisk Flash Drive. Being retractable is a real plus - no caps to hunt for. I usually take the U3 software off when I get these drives for more space. The speed and convenience of Sandisk is always better in my book than other drives. It also doesn't hurt when you can pick them up on sale.

It is very convenient and handy for the occasional file transfer or back-up. Security lock (password-enabled) adds security to files in thumb drive. Although it has not failed, I worry about it's plastic body (I used to own a 2 GB Titanium case version), but so far so good.

A great, large capacity flash drive at a very attractive price! I wouldn't recommend using for backup simply due to its size, but I see no reason why it would not work to backup documents or a few pictures. My use: file transfer and having essential files with me at all times.

Great price for a 8gb flashdrive from a usually reliable manufacturer. The flashdrive comes pre-loaded with this smart launch U3 software aimed to help you at backing up and doing other things with your flashdrive (works only with Windows). Warning, it's a pain in the *** to remove, and quite annoying when all I wanted was a simple thumbdrive that just worked without this junk. The U3 software is put on a 2nd partition, so simply formatting it won't remove the files. I ended up spending 10 minutes searching for the uninstaller because I didn't realize the bloat 'ware was on a 2nd partition. If you are on a Mac, follow the steps on this page to download the uninstaller and remove the otherwise useless software. [...]

I create and save emboridery design on my SanDisk® Cruzer USB flash drive - I have several flash drives for different design catagories - so much better than floppy disks and more convenient to carry and use. I always look for specials on SanDisk® Cruzer USB flash drivers.

This solid state device has and does everything I need. Even though it does not come with a lanyard, which I don't need, there is a spot to tie one on. I keep it in my pocket always, so I have a=8 GB ready to answer my call. I definitely recommend this device!

U3 is a disk utility that installs itself onto your computer and annoys you every time you try to do pretty much anything. This drive comes with the software pre-installed! Go to the SanDisk site to find the app that will allow you to remove the U3 software (which can ONLY be removed with the utility - even a reformat will not remove the U3 stuff). After that, you will have a great USB stick that will not annoy you with pop-ups and notifications every time you use it. (Uninstall utility is Windows only, but drive works on both Mac and Windows)

You are not able to affix the new design to your keychain. The slot is designed in such a way that even a very small ring is not able to be affixed. It is now sitting on a shelf and I have gone back to the older one.
