I've been using SanDisk Extreme memory cards for quite a while, and the 8GB SDHC Extreme III is an excellent value for the price--especially when SanDisk runs its seasonal rebates. The cards read and write quickly, and I've never had files become corrupted on them.

Sandisk Extreme III cards are packaged with Image Rescue Pro data recovery software, which can be a real lifesaver if you ever have a corrupted file, or accidentally erase an image. I was able to recover around 80% of my images after I accidentally FORMATTED (d'oh!) a memory card after a vacation.

It's best to take advantage of the rebate offer, which increases with each card purchase--then go shoot away!

These cards are great for Flash based HD Camcorders. 8GB of space gets you one hour of recording on the Vixia HF100. I have got these during the sandisk rebate promotion and are the most cost effective with the rebate.

I also use one of the cards on my Dell Mini where the SSD disk space is limited.

I shoot a 12 MP camera in RAW and JPEG simultaneously. With the large files that creates I found myself last Christmas out of town running out of memory. The 8 GB will hold 370 images, more than I'll normally use till next Christmas when I'm out of town. But I've recorded close to 200 images on some shoots and the card writes to my computer very quickly. In burst mode my camera's buffer fills with no speed lost writing from the buffer to the card. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This item is good. From product itself and its price. I got it with a BIG rebate, and end up it will be a good deal.
I use it on my Cannon SD850. Now it will gives me more than 2000 shots under the highest resolution. Compare with the 4GB version I used before, I got same read/write performance.
Cons: This time it offers a free software instead of the free reader. I do like the reader and the little carrying case SanDisk offers for the 4GB version I got last time. (for this, I will deduct one star) Other than that, nothing to complain about.
Good product and a good name to trust.

It is very useful for Canon SD750 powershot. We used to use 4GB same card and now with 8GB its more fun. We can get continuously 120 min of video with good quality. 15fps. I think 7mega pixel pics would come about 4000!! Very satisfied and recommend to anybody as long as its compatible. It is not compatible with some old electronics stuff..it should be kept in mind tho.

This card is extremely fast in my Canon SLR as well as my little Canon Point and Shoot. When using the point and shoot camera in video mode (640 x 480 @ 30 FPS) after taking a 4 minute video and hitting the stop button, the camera saved the video MUCH faster than my previous SDHC card.

Fast card, very quick to write when using burst capabilities on my Canon Rebel XSi. Highly recommended to anyone needing big storage with high speed. I can fit 400+ full-resolution RAW photos on each of these cards. In full-resolution JPEG mode, I could fit 1200+ on each card, which is more than sufficient for all but the longest vacations.

Very nice products. This is the primary memory card I used for my Nikon D80. It can keep up with continuous shooting very well, and can hold more than one thousand 10M-pixel pictures in fine JPEG format. Even for those who use raw format, hundreds pictures in one single card is not a problem.

I used 2gb normal SD card before. Now I'm using 8gb extreme SDHC card. I don't find a big difference in copying files from camera to PC, but there is some difference while taking a snap. It stores it fastly. Can get blur-free images, coz of fast storage although the hand shakes. Its basically depends on the camera how the memory card is utilized. I have used SanDisk Extreme III since the 512Mb CF card, it never fails me like others (even Lexar's professional CF cards could have bad sectors couldn't recover). I have used the 4G SDHC Extreme III, and it's already good to shoot video clips with HD together with images files by the Lumix LX-3. Now, I bought 3 x 8G SDHC, I think it's good enough even for a light job of a full day. 30MB or Extreme IV seems not an issue in the performance of compact DC camera usage.

I’m gonna split this review into 2 categories: What you need and what you really need.

First if you shoot with a camera that is capable of 3 fps (frames per second) or less it really doesn’t matter which card you chose because the camera’s buffer is the biggest limiting factor. Will you see the difference with a faster card? YES, but not by much.

If you shoot with a camera that does 5 fps or more, in my case 10 fps, you want a super fast card, the SanDisk Extreme III is the only card that lives up the speed. I tried several bargain cards with Class 6 rating and they were all slower than the Extreme III. In a 60 minute shoot I can get as much as 100-150 more shots with SanDisk. Granted it’s not just holding down the shutter release for 60 minutes but I got more shots because the card wrote faster and I can get going with shooting rather wait a few seconds for the card to write. It isn’t scientific but 1 of the 100-150 could be the keeper.

Again unless you have a fast camera it doesn’t matter which card you buy but otherwise it’s SanDisk or nothing else.

It's a good card and has massive capacity. I like to use it as extra storage space for my netbook. I got 3 of them for very cheap ([$] total) after rebate, so it was a sweet deal. I wouldn't pay full price for it though, but that's just because I don't need an 8gb card that much. In a download, the speed was more like 10mb/s, not the advertised 20mb/s. Probably depends on what kind of files you're transferring though.

I use this product in my camera and I am also planning on using it in my Asus eee, it is very fast if I do not have the flash turned I can snap pictures at speeds that seem like a picture per second or faster. I most recently used the 8GB at a wedding. It was great that I didn't have to worry about changing cards.

Only problems so far, is that the card is too large (gigs) for my computer. Instead of being able to download from the card. I had to go through my camera. Which wastes batteries. I guess it's time to update my computer! :-)

With the SanDisk rebate, I bought 3 8gb cards for a fraction of the price of one sold elsewhere. Just make sure that your camera can handle the high capacity SDHC cards. Some of the older cameras can't.

I use it in a pns camera, and noticed that I can take videos without any glitches as with my older and slower card.

I also tried it as a readyboost card (4GB), using the other half to store files and it does improve responsiveness under heavy load.

I have used Sandisk memory products every since I bought my first DSLR 2yrs ago. With each and every photo I take, I can rest assure that my photos will be there when I go to download them to my pc. Which I can't say that for some of the cheap brands that I have tried in the past. Do yourself a favor and just buy the best and forget about the headaches. Buy the Sandisk.

This extreme III version of Sandisk SD card is a lot faster than the standard SD card. At 20mb/s, all my pics from one event/session are transferred over in 15-20 seconds as opposed to waiting for a minute or so with the standard card. I really love it. I am just waiting for Sandisk to come out with a waterproof version:)

My D80 slowed down after I upgraded from a 2G SD to a name brand class-6 SDHC card. I decided to try the Sandisk Extreme III during a sale and wow, I got all my speed back. I've learnt that all Class-6 SDHC are not created equal. Sandisk is the top of the heap. No more delays due to slow writes.

I use this card in my new Nikon D90. I am amazed at how fast the Extreme cards are. You are able to shoot pictures one after the other, no waiting what so ever (unlike my point and shoot camera). I don't know what to say, it does what it's supposed to do. I've used one and my friend has used another, the third one I bought is one of the backup memory cards I have in my bag. It works pretty fast, and so far I haven't had any problems with the storage or access. Believe it or not, but some memory cards actually do not record images correctly. But so far, no such problems with this card. I'm happy with it.

This card is typical of what I've come to expect from Sandisk products. Absolutely reliable with better than specified speed. But looks like Sandisk has done some cost cutting and the USB card reader is no longer included (although... Sandisk still includes the rescue tools cd). This can be a problem with older PCs that may not have an SDHC reader. If the reader was included, I'd have given 5 stars.

Using this Sandisk Extreme III card with my Nikon D90 I can get the full number of frames per second. It is much faster than my Transcend 8Gb Class 6 which goes to show that not all class 6 cards are created equal.

I bought three (good manufacturer rebate at the time) and I also use one in my Canon G9. The card accepts data faster than the camera can write it, but it is still a benefit when you come to pull the images off the card onto the computer. Here, the Sandisk Extreme III is much faster than the Transcend.

Bought this for my wife's new Canon xsi and it works wonderfully. Fast access times after taking a photo and downloading from the camera was also just as fast. The card downloaded 100 pics in just a few minutes and each pic averaged 3mb's. Awesome card!
