Having owned a couple of Brauns, I would say this shaves about as well, maybe not quite as well. One big difference is that it is quieter. This means you can hear it cutting hairs, so you can hear when it is no longer cutting (many) hairs. Net effect - fewer passes over your skin. I also like the wet & dry feature not because I shave in the shower, but because it means I can rinse the hairs out before using the cleaning stand, which should extend the life of the cleaning fluid.
