Comments about GARMIN Nuvi 260 Wide GPS Navigation System:

The instruction book is very short and does not explain much. Therefore operating the gps can get confusing since there is no reference material. Don't bother buying the topo map unless you don't live in the mountains. It shows so many elevations markers that it blocks out the road. Change the scale and the road disappears but the elevation markers stay on. This is strictly major city/road GPS. Not for back country. So far it has told me to turn where there are no roads, cannot find addresses, places, etc. You can't tell it to take you to a certain city, you have to have a specific address. I wanted to find a restaurant and so I picked one that it had in memory. It took me out into the country to a vacant field. The actual restaurant was downtown. Another time it told me the place was on the right side of the road and that I was there. It was someones house and the real restaurant was on the left side 2 blocks away. I have this one and a different brand and sad to say, the different one is right on or very close. It constantly says "recalculating" especially when it gets lost. One good thing is Customer support is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have save me from throwing it off the top of Engineer Mt.

Comments about GARMIN Nuvi 260 Wide GPS Navigation System:

Just completed a nine thousand mile automobile trip and found the Garmin priceless. Great for finding motels, fuel, and food as well as directions to attractions, cities, etc. It also provided phone numbers for businesses which enabled us to phone motels to compare prices, etc.
The GPS touch screen is wonderful and easy to use.
My only disappointment was the length of the "booting up" process which seemed to take longer than I would have preferred.
I found the GPS to be sturdy quite by accident as I dropped it a couple of times; once hard enough that the case opened slightly. No problems, it kept on working fine.
It is user friendly, very useful features, and durable.

We left home the 3rd week of August '08 and traveled over 7,000 mile from North Carolina to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico and several other states and used the nuvi 260W all the way and it never missed a beat. Flawless, easy to use, dependable, these are just a few of the Pros and I have NO cons.....B.N.

Comments about GARMIN Nuvi 260 Wide GPS Navigation System:

I use the Garmin 260w on occasion when I go someplace I haven't been before. I find it very useful, accurate, and easy to use. However, it is slow in acquiring the satelite when first turned on.
After it finds the satelite though, it is good to go.
