With exclusive algorithms to control its dynamic iris, it generates a sharp 14000:1 contrast ratio and is ultra-quiet at only a 19dBA noise level. This is currently the best 1080p projector on the market under $2000, with a host of impressive features only available on projectors twice as expensive. These include good light output, high contrast, HQV processing, and quiet operation. In order to keep the price reasonable, Mitsubishi opted to limit the zoom and lens shift ranges, but if you have flexible placement options to overcome these limitations, this won't be an issue. The recent $300 rebate plus free spare bulb is an added bonus, and the fact that the bulb won't require replacement as soon as other projectors (rated at 5000 hours, compared to 2000 hours for most projectors) means that operating costs are also lower.

Incredibly easy to set up. Twenty minutes out of the box and I was enjoying the best residential movie experience of my life. The picture is clear, crisp, and awe inspiring, even in the relatively small room I have available. I didn't think it could get any better, then I hooked up my Blu-ray player, and... Wow!

I spent the better part of 6 months reviewing projectors while I finished the media room in my basement. Pretty early on I narrowed it to the Epson 1080p UB and this Mitsu HC5500. [...]Abe's was perfect with a very competitive price.I have since installed the project and tied it to a BD Player, Wii, Xbox360 and DirecTV 1080i source... all look spectacular with 120" of screen.Oh... and the best part? I can't hear it... at all. I have owned lots of projectors and computers... this one is whisper quiet... and, in the Economy mode, I simply can't hear it running.You won't be disappointed.
