Comments about Logitech Harmony 900 Universal Remote:
While this unit is pricey (not on Abes of course), its far superior to all of the other Logitech universal remotes due to its RF (radio frequency) transmission. If you have multiple components and a TV and they are not all next to each other, its very hard to aim perfectly (with normal infrared) to control them all at once. With the RF blasters, you can place them where ever they are needed and there is no longer a need to aim the remote. The range of the remote to its receiver is very good as well. The list of devices this model supports is very high, I have never had any device I was setting up not be listed. The ability to control all of the commands and add new ones is good because most times to get things right you will have to tweak some of them. The full configuration of the soft (touch screen icons) and hard buttons allows the user to setup and configure the remote in every possible way one could want. There is a slight learning curve to configuring the device and a big downside where you must have a computer with Internet access to perform the programming. But other than that the wizards are fairly good in walking a user through the steps of the initial setup. I believe the Internet access is required to download all of the commands for all of the devices that are supported.Overall, I would never buy a non-RF remote, this remote works great, is very powerful in its support for thousands of devices and best part of all, one no longer has to aim! I had to take one star away for price, [$] msrp for a universal seems a bit high. Good thing Abe's always has amazing pricing on their products.
