I travel allot so a good GPS is much needed. This one does the job although it will say things are on the left when in fact they are on the right and vice versa. It also occasionally has tried to send me on streets that no longer exist (even with the map updates) and dead end roads. The map update costs extra, it does not come with the unit which I think is a ripoff. I would like for it to be able to find types of things like "sushi", but it does not have that capability.
Overall it is a good GPS though

This is my 7th GPS and it is what they all should have been. Garmin, by far the best, has outdone itself with the 880. It's a it pricey, but worth it to me. My only complaint is not with the hardware, but the mapping software. It does not appear to be updated often enough (streets over a year old here are not yet in it)and each GPS needs its own map upgrade at around $80 each. That's way too mauch when you own several units.

The Bluetooth function did not sync properly with my Blackberry 8830. Support could not fix so a new unit was sent out. The new unit works nicely.

Everything you expect a garmin to do. GPS navigation is great. Speaks street names clearly. Voice recognition is pretty accurate, definitely good for truly hands free operation because anything you see on the menu you can speak it and it opens. I found the blue tooth speaker phone function to be not so great because the person on the other end had difficulty hearing me, but maybe this is because of my cell phone. A friend of mine has a garmin with bluetooth and i hear him just fine on his, so maybe it is my phone. I must say i'm disappointed with the MSN Direct feature. I'm still on my three month trial period but i doubt that i'll subscribe. I live on Long Island where service coverage is great, drive into the city often, and the unit rarely gets full msn direct info. I dont trust the traffic on it because i dont know when it's from. I've driven past points on the road where the GPS is saying there is an incident and there is nothing. So i still listen to the traffic report on radio. It is cool to get Movie times and weather reports, WHEN IT WORKS. So if your counting this unit to give you real time traffic and route you around it, i would look elsewhere. Maybe something with XM traffic or something. Other then the MSN thing i love the GPS. Mounting is solid, screen clear, all around a good unit.

It is not real useful in a city where I know the shortest and quickest routes but on the highway and in strange cities it is great.

If you don't put in a destination the NUVI 880 tries to take you back to your starting point, and it's not clear how to deactivate that feature. Also, if you put in a destination once the device has begun attempting to guide you back to your starting point, the device will not map out the route you requested until AFTER it finishes guiding you back to your starting point which is somewhat annoying. I say short battery life, particularly if you're using the MP3 player or Audible features. Overall a very good GPS when compared to other aftermarket products of similar caliber and capabilities.
